I do NOT need a dressage saddle

I just loooove kieffer saddles. I have 2 of them even though I don't have a horse that can be ridden... and I am still dreaming of more :-) Nothing like a great saddle on a great horse.

Nothing wrong with having a bit of a day-dream about it. Give your credit card to me to look after for the moment though, you'll thank me later :D

Here's a debate - a good saddle costs as much as a posh handbag. Which would your OH prefer you spent your money on?

Your handbags must cost alot!!!!:D

lol i actually do need a dressage saddle, 2 in fact for both my horses as the gp on my tb mare puts me in the most awful position and my 3 year old when he is 4 next year is being aimed at young dressage horse classes and currently only has a wintec gP
I also need a small synthetic saddle for my filly who will be 3 next year and being backed.

Thing is i need a limit for 3 saddles but I really love the new isabell saddles too but I wouldnt be able to afford all 3 if I got one :( unless someone has a 2nd hand one :D

See now, I'm having trouble with this as we speak!!

It's my 21st birthday on Christmas Eve, and the non horsey parts of my family, and non horsey friends, cannot understand that I would rather have rugs for my horses, lovely new riding boots, a nice bridle for the youngster etc. than pearl necklaces and crystal decanters...

Now, I like necklaces and decanters as much as the next person, but I don't particularly want or have any need for them. I DO long for an Albion saddle to fit my awkward shaped youngster, and a Thermatex for the new horse... but non horsey people don't seem to understand that I would get more pleasure from unwrapping things like this than I would from unwrapping a bracelet that I won't wear because I'm always up to my elbows in horse poo!

Wow, I sound all kinds of ungrateful!

I bought a wintec Isabell dressage saddle for my youngster as I thought I could adjust it as he grew and I hated it!! My horse also hated it and decked me several times. Then I used my post leather dressage saddle, which was an ok fit and he was a lamb!!

I have a nice havanna Jeffries Piaffe for sale - pm me for more details

You are so so right!

I have asked non-horsey family and friends to contribute towards a nice pair of Ariat boots, and a new middleweight turnout rug as my evil TB ripped it to shreds.

My friends have accepted that I am 'crazy' and just go along with it now but my OH's mum just doesn't understand why I don't want candles, candleholders and number bits of 'tat' that sit on the shelves and need dusting . . .

Ah! Someone feels my pain!

I just had someone say to me "why don't you want something that you can actually use and keep forever?"...ummm.... I do... that's why I'm asking for things that I actually WILL use and keep forever...

fluffy socks and ear warmers are FAR more useful to me than cutlery.

I'm with Starzaan (not like that ... well, maybe like that) - my friends got posh jewellery and things as graduation presents, I got a new leather saddle. And none of them could understand WHY this was the greatest thing ever. Apart from when I also got a new bridle for my birthday 2 months later, and could have MATCHING SHINY NEW TACK. Except my martingale, which wasn't replaced lol.

If I could afford it, I'd have a dressage saddle as well as my GP :D

yes you do - do it :D :D
i thoguht i'd never need another saddle when i forked out for a M2M one for HRH..... it was a jumping saddle....
few months later i bought a dressage version - and i've never looked back - our flat work has come on wonders as it really helps my position (and anything that helps it is worth it :o)

I have a Wintec Isabella dressage saddle for sale. Its got a wide fitting in at the mo and its in black equisuede. I loved it but there is no way it will fit my new boy. :(

A few months ago I would of said you dont need one, but after riding in mine the last few times I am now converted. For me the dressage saddle puts me in a better position and so I get less pain during and after riding.

Maybe you will get some money for xmas and can put it towards one. Or try ebay. Might be some on there.

If it helps I tried a Wintec I.W at the weekend and I didnt like it.... tipped me forwards..........

BUT

I do love the Albion k2 dressage I bought hehe!

oo me too. horse didnt like IW wintec at all, hopped and boucned all over the place in it but K2 lovely !!

Wintec saddles I find tend to tip you forward - I bought an Isabel Dressage for when I backed my youngster and within weeks I was in such pain with my hips that I really had trouble getting up out of a chair and thought I had done something terrible to my back - changed the saddle and within days was feeling the benifits of a decent saddle for the rider ! Have saved LOTS of pennies and now the proud owner of a beautifully fitted Albion SLK Ultima, which is just a dream to ride in a fits my lusto perfectly after some very percise fitting from my saddler who was brilliant !
