because my competition history is unaffilliated and not worthy! However, I have to say I am taking my home produced 4 yo to his first dressage test on Saturday and am absolutely terrified! It is simple enough, Prelim 1, but i have NEVER done a dressage test before! It seemed simple enough until I had a practice today and realised we had a way to go! wish us luck! here is my lad, Friesian x tb! xx

What a handsome boy!!! I think first outing if he does vaguely the right thing at vaguely the right time and stays in the arena its a very successful day! There will be so many other firsts he will have to contend with on the day. Hope it goes well!

He is very handsome - what are his bloodlines?

For the dressage, just be as accurate as possible, even if it all goes wrong, being accurate scores you points

Good luck!

he looks a lovely sort ! good luck with your test as said before just ride a nice accurate as possible test smile and enjoy ! you'll be fine - lets us know how you get on and pics !!

Just remember what you're there to do, give him a positive first experience. Give yourself lots of time and space and don't be afraid to speak up and tell people he's young if you feel like you're being crowded or he's feeling a bit overwhelmed.

The judge will know that the test is for green/experienced riders and horses so don't think of it so much as having to impress them, more as presenting yourself and your horse where you are in your training and getting feedback on what you need to do to progress.

He's lovely and looks a very nice fellow - I'm sure you'll have a great day out with him.

He looks a lovely boy, I'm sure you'll be fine. Agree with the others - don't forget to smile!

Oh and don't forget the pics. too.

All the very best and have a great day.

Enjoy!
Lovely horse sure to catch the judges eye.
I did my first dressage test in June (had only done 1 other since Pony Club!) and was petrified but it went way better than I thought and now am quite hooked!

He's very handsome

....... and as said above, don't stress it - there's nothing at stake really, it's just a bit of fun - and your first time out is really all about getting your horse to a show atmosphere so don't feel too bad if your dressage goes to pot on the day!!

Good luck, lets us know how you get on.

There is some low key showjumping near by on sat after next (13th), if you think he's brave enough for 2 weekends partying!!

What a gorgeous horse!

There's a few of us that post in here with very humble accomplishments, and I don't think anybody minds. We all have to start somewhere!
