And stir up a rather controversial issue, but why is it that some people are dead set against parelli, and others swear by it?

Just interested after reading some of the threads today.

Polite debating and language is always welcome, potty mouths not necessary.

I don't like it because I don't like alot of the natural hosemanship methods, due to what they claim there doing, and what, in my opinion, they are actually achieving (but thats a story for another day

) but I do believe they all have their place for some people, and there all better than the old fashioned technique

I watched a demo DVD about parelli traing and was really impressed, in fact a felt a bit emotional afterwards because it was so wonderful to see, but what annoys me is...
why is it so expensive to buy all the equitment,DVD's and books? there encouraging you to use this meathod of training but taking their mick a bit with the cost of it...think its a bit of money making scheme for them to be honest, they do a fantastic thing but come on Pat Parelli, you'd help more horses and owners if your special secret training meathods were a tad cheaper and more available to buy for every age/type of rider..?

Im not for and against it. Whatever floats your boat really. I suppose i believe more in Monty Roberts than Parelli, I once had a horse who was very difficult to get through too so i did 'join up' with him, it worked a treat!! but I don't think id live by it.

I'm not against NH as such, but I've seen 'behind the scenes' at two NH demos (no, I'm not going to name them as I don't want Admin to beat me with a carrot stick) and they were faked.
They picked the 'problem' horses out of about 20 possibles, worked with them for hours in the morning before the demo, with an entourage of 20 + people (and weren't too kind to the horses, shall we say), then brought the chosen (now very tired) horses out to the evening 'demo' with the words 'X has never seen this horse before...'
I nearly fell off my perch in disbelief that they would lie so blatantly.
Hence my continuing suspicion.

I have to confess to being sceptical about some of the NH methods. After all my thinking is that if it was so easy to sort out this 'ongoing problem' howcome the owner/rider hasn't managed to sort it out ? After all the majority of us only have our horses best interests at heart and want the best for them ...
