as i went away for half term, my ponio had a nice week off rolling in mud and munching grass. took him out just now for a "quiet plod", but he had other ideas!!! he's had time off before and he's not been any different due to it, but today he was like an unexploded bomb. he was off before i was on, then he raced up the road at his fastest walk. about 15 mins into the hack we saw another horse close by, this sent him into a tizz. he spent the next 5 minutes trying to twist round so he could get a better look!!! by now he was breaking a sweat and so was i, dressed for a windy ride on the hill top. once we got past this horse, we spotted 2 more coming towards us! we can go months and not see any other horses out, typical! so we bounced and pranced up to them and the riders wanted to stop for a chat as i vaguely knew one of them. but no, ponio was having none of it. STOP AND STAND STILL!!! out on a hack, mummy you must be mad. so it was fidget, circle, twist. by now i was getting a bit annoyed with him as this isnt how is usually is. and from then on for the next hour, he bounced, pranced, jigged, spooked and tried to go sideways. he was absolutely soaked when we got home and we'd walked the whole way. he looked as tho he'd been round aintree twice!! hmmm, maybe next time i go away, i'll ask my friend to lunge him.
