Pheasants of West Yorkshire can rest safe

We lost my (potential future) mother in law at the weekend very unexpectedly so we have temporarily moved in with the pf father in law who is a farmer. Mainly arable but has some sheep in the yard (again, as long as a sheep baa's at him, they're safe).

I took Herman out this morning round the fields for his morning walk. On a mission to the muck heap ( :sigh: ) he inadvertently put up a pheasant - Oh Em Gee, you have never seen a dog sh*t himself the way Herman did. He must have landed almost right on top of it, so it took off sqwarking (skwarking? How on earth do you spell it?) Herman nearly fell over in shock then ran to mummy and went behind my legs to bark. Refused to venture more than a foot away from my legs for the rest of the walk  and is now rather suspicious of the muck heap.

Apparently Weims are meant to be brave? Still, it's solved the current 'I can't hear you calling, I've found a scent/other dog/leaf blowing in the wind' issue we've had which has necessitated lunge line walking....

Well done Spudlet - that looks better than my attempts.

It's just as well he's pretty really! Herman isn't allowed near 'our' sheep at the moment - they're pretty close to lambing now - but just to hear one baa sends him scooting back into the house. Fool. Just as well I didn't buy him for his protective powers isn't it?!

A friend compared him to Scooby Doo the other week. At the time I thought it was a bit harsh, but it's probably fairly accurate

Terribly sorry to hear about your pf mother in law. What a shock it must be for you all. Massive condolences to you, your OH and his father.

Must admit I did chuckle at Herman and the pheasant though.
