Poor bugger. I'm sorry but the owner is trying to offload a horse that has issues that are only going to get worse. What a cow. I'm hoping someone caring will pick him up. What a sad case, I feel like reporting that ad.
That actually makes me really cross. Poor sweet lad is regularly lame, she has made all kinds of assumptions about what's wrong with him by the sounds of it, yet never actually bothered to have a vet out to him, and is now selling him on for peanuts. Very sad indeed.
I hope someone knowledgable with more money than sense takes pity on him, poor boy
Theres loads of similar ads just look in the horses 16yrs plus a little 20plus pony going for £200 and there was also a group of welshies £50 each somewer else i just wonder were some of these very old or very cheap ponies go to
It's just so sad. In the ad she says the he's never needed the vet so how come he's been diagnosed with navicular? Sorry but she is has 4 horses and is trying offload the one that is going to cost the most to look after. Utter bitch. And I don't apologise for that.
Glad I don't look at ads on there! You have a stronger stomach than me!
my friend wanted to go and see him, told her not to its a walking vet bill and they are just trying to get rid before it cost them to much but at least they are being honest.
I met this gentle giant a couple of months back and he really is a lovely character. The sellers seemed very genuine caring people too, he was up for share at the time - I guess they couldn't find a sharer for him.
If I could afford to keep 2 horses and afford his future vets fees I would have him - but I need to focus on getting the right horse for my daughter and I.
i am going to be renting a field from next yr hopefully and will need a companion for Vinnie i'd be tempted but really should get something more suitable i guess it would also cost a bit to get him to NE of scotland
I don't usually post about adverts but at 16 years old with ongoing veterinary problems, surely surely surely the owner can find it in her to take the faithful servant to the hunt kennels instead of trying to sell him for peanuts...??? My father always used to say that death is not the worst thing that can happen to a horse and I think that's probably the case for this poor lad.
I think that he needs saving from the owner of two fronts personally
1) I might be lame if i was ridden like she "Appears " to ride him
2) On NO painkillers! Is she torturing the poor sole. you can see from the piccies he looks like he is holding himself really tightly/tense and isnt relaxed!
she says she has never had to call the vet??? does that mean the vet hasn't assessed the lameness???? if so why do they think it is what they say it is or have they self diagnosed??? A bit concerning
If he has on-off lameness and she cannot afford to keep him/have vet out, in my opinion she should have him pts. Unfortunately that is the only way she can guarantee her gentle giant will not end his days suffering.
The thing is when I read the ad I thought how had she diagnosed the horse's problem when she's not had a vet?
It could have a multitude of problems - it may be bad or it may be somthing solvable! That's the sad thing i think, it could be something simple to put right.
I had apony who at one point seemed crippled but it was following a fall xc. Thought that was the end for him but we ended up having a physio out and two session later he was sounder than he'd ever been (he did have bone spavin too). So that's what gets me - she's seeingly not had anyone actually check him over - it could be something and nothing. It could be something that's only going to get worse and in that case she should not be passing him on.
Bless him...you know, I'd take him off her hands - but I wouldn't be paying for the privilege......he needs vet/physio etc etc which wouldnt be cheap. Plus TLC.....no charge for that
In the right hands he could make a nice light hack...either that or be a money pit......no way of knowing seeing as she hasn't seemingly bothered to get an accurate diagnosis.
Have to agree with you all, this advert makes me very angry, she seems to think because she's being honest in the ad, that makes it alright to sell this horse on.
One of my lads has serious hock issues and there is no way in hell that I'd sell him, even if if dire financial straits. He is my responsibility and no-one elses and I would never ever risk him going somewhere else and being buted up to the eyeballs and sold by some crappy dealer or individual as a horse that is up to work, or even worse ending up on a lorry bound for Italy.
She should do the right thing, either sell one of her hopefully more saleable horses and keep him or have him PTS. It's the least she can do
