A few years ago, I had a relatively bad fall off Kelly out hacking round one of our usual routes - it goes down past the farmhouse, round the fields, through the woods at the bottom of the lane and back up the lane.
She spooked at something, reared and I lost my balance and knocked myself unconscious for a few seconds (had a hat on thank god!). Came round to see her bolting off down the lane towards the house, I managed to get up, blood all over my hands and face rang the YO to catch Kel and by the time I got back, she was a state, dog lame and sweating, all her legs were cut open.
Turns out she'd got caught up in the barbed wire and let all the sheep loose :o
oops! She was fine after a few days, I still have problems with my shoulder from it, but was just cuts and bruises.

I've never been back down there - until today...schooling Kellys' mum's other horse (lol did you follow that..!) and her heart wasn't in it so I decided to just go for it. My heart was in my mouth all the way round and we had a few little spooks, but we did it! :) It was even quite windy!
So very proud of myself! :) :)

Thanks! :)
Yeah it does, I stayed in walk, but hey one step at a time I suppose! ;) I might even enjoy it more next time, today was a bit nervewracking!

Well done you :) You did it and thats all that matters. Next time you will be alittle braver and the time after alittle more till one day you'll wonder why you ever worried about it in the first place :D
Does sound like you had a nasty expereance so i'm not suprised you've been nervous uptill now. I still worry everytime I ride passed cows, ever since some cows scared a young cob I was riding and he reared up fell backwards and I ended up with a broken hip and wrist. It happened in 2008 and I still get nervous.
Kind of a pain now I live in the new forest :p ;) :D

Fantastic well done!!
Sometimes I find with things like that they are better off done on a whim, so you don't have as much time to work yourself up.
Bet you are grinning from ear to ear, and rightly so! :D

Thanks! :)
Funny isn't it how nerves can affect us - the horse I was riding is an angel out hacking, very forward going but very safe, but at 16.2hh any spook is a big one! :p
Kind of had an idea I'd push myself and do something 'scary' today!
Just need to get my nerve back jumping now and I'll be well on my way.......
