I failed on my reversing and im soooo frustrated as i know i can do and have been doing it perfectly. My trainer said he had never seen a girl more confident than me in the reversing and he would kick my arse if i failed on that! I was so worried about the road and failing out there but i got two minors!!!

My question now is, can i tow with L paltes as long as i have someone in the passenger seat with B+E on their licence?

Yes you can tow with L-plates as long as you are with someone who is licensed to tow.

Don't worry hun, my friend failed first time and the farmer who owns our yard said he knows loads of farmer's sons who fail first time despite the fact they have been towing and reversing probably before they could legally drive.

You'll get it next time

Stacey i know exactly how you feel it is so dissappointing after all the work - not to mention all the money! Get out practising with L plates - that is what i am doing. Good luck for next time x

Thanks guys, thats made me feel better. I wouldnt trust my Mum to tow, she's far too nervous, so im glad i can tow with her in the passenger seat.

Nats_uk thats what someone else said to me about his driving test. Had been driving since he was 12 on farms and failed first time.

Yes you can tow with someone who has B&E on their licence (ie, someone who passed before 1997). I used to tow like that with my dad in the passenger seat before I passed.

Sorry you failed, it's so difficult to pass. If it's any consolation, I failed it twice then passed on third attempt when I cocked up more than I did in either of the others!

I failed twice!

The first time i failed on the emergancy stop.
The examiner said it wasnt severe enough!

The second time with a different examiner i failed on the emergancy stop!
He said it was too severe !

It did expalin this and asked which is correct way, but you know what they are like, they are right not matter what!
I was really annoyed!

I failed on reversing the 1st time aswell!! my instucter was not happy as I was fine with it before.

Good luck for next time!

I failed mine first time on the road drive. I also failed my HGV first time for going through a red light! Never done that before. My instructor said you've got a really nice examiner you'll pass easily if you don't do anything silly!

I failed on reversing the first time, never even made it out of the test centre

Did really well second time though, have a couple more lessons and you should be ok.

Its stupid isnt it? my mam is legally allowed to pull a trailer, she is a complete nervous wreck and struggles to reverse a car, yet there are so many competant younger drivers who have to spend hundreds of pounds for the privilage. A case of one rule for some and another rule for everyone else. It should have eithered stayed how it was or mde it a requirement for EVERYONE to pass a trailer test.

I think everyone should have to pass it, it is very scary that older people with no training are allowed straight out on the road!

Utter madness. (Sorry to people who tow well, but would rather everyone had to have some lessons!)

i jack-knifed the trailer on my first test in the reversing - oops! i'd been doing it perfect with the instructor.

madness really - i got my mum to sit with me while i drove to shows on my L-plates - she wouldn't have the first idea how to tow a trailer!
