I feel awful for thinking this...

I am presuming this is a TB, unraced? It shouldn't be too much of a surprise that the horse wasn't sent on in training since less than 2% of all TB's foaled ever set foot on a racecourse and most owners/trainers won't pursue a no-hoper. A lot of TB's seem to have neck/back injuries, I have heard a lot of them are caused by pulling back or flipping over when young. If the horse isn't going to come right then PTS is probably the best option, but I am an unsentimental old person and not inclined to think of horses as "pets".

I don't believe it Cortez :) I think you are immensely experienced and practical but I just get a little feeling that you might, just might at some point hold out for that special one.

Im repeating what as already been said in "all will support you" A month ago the people on here helped me with my Baby pts. and i am here for others.lean on us hun x x x

I class myself like Cortez, immensely practical, realistic and due to age, experienced in most things horses throw at us but also totally unsentimental in regard to horses other than it's a shame because every time you 'say goodbye' to one it is always done with the interests of the horse at the heart of the decision so there should be no moping about it. I think both Cortez and I (plus many others) would class ourselves as sentimental and selfish if we did otherwise but it doesn't mean we don't care, it means we do. I know OP will do the best thing for Dizzy as she always has since having her; Dizzy couldn't ask for a better owner.

Thank you maesfen that comment means a lot! I think when it comes to situations like mine and dizzys I have to weigh things up practically and sensibly.
And it will always be whats best for her before me.

Can't say any more other than to echo what others have said. If she can't cope without being on Danilon every day then it sounds like there's something serious. Is she normal when turned out? If she still has behavioural issues when out 24/7 and off the danilon, tbh I can't see what good leaving her for winter would do. If she's in pain, she's in pain. You can either fix it or pts, and that is never a bad choice. It's clear from your previous posts you love her and only want the best for her.

Thank you ride fast again great advice! I think it's a decision that will have to be made before winter. The vet has made it very clear that its not that the behaviour hasn't improved after a month on danillon and physio. She is happiest when turned out but has been tripping and stumbling she is completely sound though.
Here is a video of her stable behaviour. It's fairly frequent and at no particular time she has also rubbed off the fur on her neck :(

I know it makes me cry watching her like this! She is so beautiful and so lovely but its like she is going mad! we need a conclusion! I can not wait until wednesday

Oh dear, just watched the video, such a shame but she is a lucky horse to have such a loving owner with her best interests at heart. Be strong for your girl x

Just watched the video- on the evidence of that alone, it looks simply like she has invented her own stable vice. It looks like a cross between weaving and box walking. As an ex racehorse, it's highly possible she developed the habit when confined in a stable in a high stress yard.

Most horses who weave or box walk are much better when turned out as much as possible, preferably 24/7, but its unlikely you'll ever break the habit.

Cragrat this is new behaviour she has only been doing it for a month. I have had her for a year and before we moved yards and she hit her head I used to lie with her in her stable and read. We did a total of 4 months box rest at the old yard and we never heard a peep out of her. This is completely new and along with rearing inhand. The vet has already done X-rays and she is coming back for a chat on Wednesday as dizzy has been on danillon for 5 weeks now and when we reduced it there was no improvement to her behaviour.

Ah, ok, wasn't aware of the background:(

It's funny how she has such a pattern going- repeating the movements over and over. It's not random 'freaking out'.

I hope the vet can find answers for you.
