Sorry in advance to anyone with a sensitive disposition!

I noticed a week or so ago (

) that my gelding was holding his man tackle awkwardly, not always tucking it away properly when he had finished having a tinkleberry. I dutifully looked up old threads on HHO regarding geldings bits and realised he probably had a 'bean' that was making him uncomfortable

I'm horrified to say that I've (subconsciously) been finding reasons to delay with this procedure, and by today I still hadn't got round to it

However I noticed this evening that close to the offending article was a big black nodule (about the size of a Malteser

I feel terrible for not helping him with this sooner, poor chap! and am I safe to assume that this is the problem over with now?

Cookies for reading and thanks for your advice

Probably, just keep an eye on him. My vet told me of one she treated (cleaned) which had maggots!

........No wonder this poor guy was stamping!

"We" had a bean (obviously horse did but I like to claim a bit of ownership too!)
It was the first one I had encountered and after following advice from hho I removed a lump which looked just like a shelled walnut!

You are making me feel guilty now. My boy wont let me near his bits (horse Im talking about ) It all looks very manky when being "aired", He will let me direct a hose up his sheath
but no touching ! I wouldnt know if he had a bean or a whole
beanbag!

My horse was like that to begin with, I started off by scratching the inside of his leg and working my way up!

After a few days of doing this when I brought him in he eventually let me get on with it.

I did find it helped to be a bit purposeful with my movements though, if I was gentle I think it tickled!

When it came to removing the bean I stuck my little finger in the pouch and did it quickly whilst jumping out of the way!!!

Mine has never had a bean in the time i have owed him - almost 5 years now. He also never really got a manky manhood - but it did get crusty looking one summer so grabbed it and slathered it in baby oil as thats what someone told me to do - then stuck some oil up in the sheath. Strangely he didnt freak out, he just looked at me as if to say "what the HELL are you doing with your hand up there!!" haha.

Can somebody do a diagram or take some action shots? I still have no idea where exactly to look. I grab my gelding's Gentleman Part when it is dangling out and shred off the crusty shavings, but I have to hang on or he telescopes it back in sharpish

He lets me rummage about in the sheath after it has shot inside to regions I cannot reach, let alone see, and fiddle out the sticky lumps

I wish someone would invent a gadget for this job, preferably a very automatic one

Baby oil. Keep a bottle handy along with a rubber glove, the Johnson's oil gel works best IME. Anyway, next time he gives it an airing, grab the oil and just dollop it on with a quick rub before it disappears back inside.

This worked very well on the young horse and he had a sparkling clean willy in a couple of days, all the gunk just loosens and drops off. However, the older boy is very shy and yesterday I noticed he couldn't even drop it for a wee. I got the oil and 'lubed up' put my hand in and was both ashamed and mortified to find it so dirty the thing was obviously getting stuck
frown.gif
So I filled a syringe with oil and he let me squirt it in before gently working it in with my hand (someone should film this!) and hopefully this will do the trick.

If yours is ok with you 'rummaging' then try it with some oil, alternatively I bet Ann Summers do a line in gadjets

I've just written this on another thread too. A really good way of getting baby or olive oil high up inside the sheath is to shirt it in from a syringe.

I ahve a gelding and apart from a quick clean when it seemed necessary i leave all that alone! I am a bit dim in this department - what on earth are 'beans'??????

As far as I can work out it is a lump of black nastyness that builds up inside their penis. Nice.

Actually its more a greyey-white colour. If you stretch the skin around the tube where the wee come out you might be able to see one if its there, you have too hook your finger in and fish it out. In bits if its the size of a walnut...

I'm certain my horse wasn't going to stand around while I broke it up!
The bean was so solid I couldn't easily break it once it was out so it would have been impossible to do it in situ

my boy gets black tar like stuff stuck to the insides of his legs when hes kept in over night is this the same stuff???? my friends gelding also gets it, its difficult to remove doesnt come off with water .
i really dont no wot it is does any1 else have this problem?????

I have to be honest and say I'm not sure. It is definitely willy related but I don't think it is the elusive "bean" as this seems to be white (as mentioned above). I think it is probably worth giving them a wash though

I have this problem, oops, well not me by our boy does...It's all very confusing isn't it?

That black gunge on the legs is a sign that the sheath needs cleaning. As opposed to just a willy wash... I bet he smells too doesn't he?
