Can someone tell me if this is by chance or if majority of mares are like this; At my yard it's mainly geldings with 3 mares. The 3 mares on the yard are really hyper a lot of the time, by this I mean if you put the tiniest bit of leg on they'll take off flying with you, in canter they'll run away with you nearly breaking into a gallop. You really have to use your seat to ride these mares with barely any leg or hand movement. Are majority of the mares like this or is it just by chance all of the mares on my yard are like this?

The geldings on my yard are all laid back and wouldn't run away with you like the mares unless they're excited out xc or jumping!

Not gender specific! Mares can be more temperament and stroppy but responsiveness, sharpness and forward going ness is not gender specific!

Nope my mare is nothing like that. In fact despite being the youngest ridden horse on the yard we use her as the sensible escort when other people have problems with spookiness, nappiness or stopping. She is very sensible and stoppable.
