I agree, best to turn away if you're not enjoying it.
I am now unable to push a poo picking wheelbarrow through the deep muddy field so walking around with a skip to and from the muck pile. All three are still 'in work' but fairly short sessions while weather is so awful. Freezing today.

How you feel is totally understandable at this time of year, it's funny because i wrote a very similar post a couple of months ago. Horse keeping gets to us all at times, it's bloody hardwork and keeping them at home can be harder than livery with all the extra jobs. Agree with the others, it won't hurt to give them a holiday. Concentrate on getting the basics done and maybe advertise for a riding companion so that come spring you have someone to ride out with. It is not being selfish /spoilt to be struggling to keep horses at home.... It can be lonely and difficult.

I feel like this, recently got my first horse after loaning for 3 years. Hes so sweet and i love riding but gosh is he high maintenance. A very stressy horse, sometimes i feel he needs someone that can be there 24/7. Im starting a nee job and im not sure if he is going to cope with me being in work from 8-5 without hurting himself. He's caused me more anxiety and worry than happiness so far. Thinking owning is not for me. But still would hate to sell him.

Im only 23 and knew what i was getting into as he is my project horse as he is only 9 with very low milage and really want to produce him but on the ground he just wants to play up and I'm not scared of him im scared for him to hurt himself.

Have you considered getting in a trainer to assess you and horse partnership to give you training suggestions/support? If you state your area , folk on here will likely be able to recommend a trainer near to you. Maybe start a new thread specifically for that request if you get no response in this thread.

He does need someone 24/7. He's a herd animal. Hardwired to be part of a herd. Find him a suitable stable herd where he can live out with his own kind 24/7 and in time you will have a transformed horse.
