I feel privileged

I know he's old, I know he's 'broken' but I wouldn't swap him for anything in the world :)

The only thing looking old and ' broken ' to me , is the castle , but - hey - they're both stunning:D

Thank you everyone for your really lovely comments, it's been a rough few weeks for us so it's nice to see him looking happy and well :)

(though why would he never halt that square in a dressage test? )

Beautiful boy - beautiful location - lucky you, hope the old chap comes good soon so you can enjoy them both from an elevated position!

To have such a gorgeous horse and live in a beautiful part of the country.

Now almost 6 weeks into box rest and controlled walking in hand; up to 20 minutes twice a day now which is great as we can explore some of the cool places on the estate.

This is Newark castle, a tower house dating from the early 15th century. It has a fairly gory history, as do a lot of the castles in the area.

Sorry, left this full sized as I love it :)

Tonight's walk I think may take us round one of the lochs, lots of wildlife (including red squirrels) to look out for.

I live in a fantastic place too, I adore it, but I often contemplate moving up your way, I was looking at jobs and houses this time last year. It is a fantastic place to live, not for the faint hearted, but my god you get your rewards for putting up with the harsh weather :D

That's true for sure, this time last year we had already been pretty much snowed in for 2 weeks  :D

ETA I moved up from the south coat (Dorset) a couple of years ago; I loved it there too but for different reasons :)

WOW.

Firstly, lovely post, too cute :)

Secondly, that photo is amazing. I am so jealous - what a place! Scotland is really the best country in the world - I wish I still lived on the right side of the border :( Such lovely things to see and places to explore on your walks out :D

Thirdly, he's a very good boy to be so calm after being on box rest!

Lovely :D

Thanks :) Yes, it is a bit of a soppy post for me but I thought he looked too handsome to not show him off a bit! :o

He is a very good boy, especially for a redhead  :D

Oh wow - that second photograph made me gasp out loud - it`s so beautiful both in composition and subject. Absolutely stunning and so beautiful to feel the sentiment behind your post. Awwww! The feel good factor beats the X factor every time!

LOVE. LOVELOVELOVELOVELOVE :D

Can I come and live with you?

You would love the yard, YO is a classical dressage instructor :) And your highlands would feel right at home :)

Only thing is, you need a good sense of direction as the estate is over 46,000 acres so it's easy to get lost :( ;)

AHHHHHHH sounds like heaven  You're near the "one I worship as a God-like entity" too, aren't you?

Wow. Perfect for off road orienteering practice and TREC! We can only do roads and tracks round here - it's practically impossible to get lost

Yup, she is just down the road, does clinics at a local indoor school and always has an open day during the Borders Festival of the Horse :) It is also a great area for POR practice but there are no comps anywhere nearby

Ok, you've sold it to me - we'll leave at daybreak. How long will it take me to ride and lead my boys up the A1? :D

That's odd, I'd have thought there's be a few  The GB Nationals are Edinburgh next year, aren't they? That's not too far?

Yeah that's not far, although as I now don't have a rideable horse it's not much use either!

Oh bugger

I have two and I could use a trec partner for my little on, but it would be a heck of a way to take them to get to a qualifier before hand as well as the finals :S

(and that's assuming you'd be seen dead on a hairy cob!)

I have absolutely nothing against cobs, I think T is a cob stuck in a wb body. I don't think I could actually ride anything else Trec though, especially PTV; I have always done brilliantly with T but think that's down to him entirely  :o

Aww, he sounds fabulous :)

My hairy beast is the easiest ride ever - you just point, put your leg on and hold on :p He just cruises round and gets on with it, normally with very little help from me :o On the down side, he's 18 and set in his ways - he thinks led obstacles are for wusses and he doesn't always see the need to watch where he's putting his feet  I bet the ginger beast has a bit more common sense!

He's pretty good except when you have to pick something up and carry it - he always ends up grabbing it himself and then we have an 'argument' when I try to take it off him - he's like a sulky child. Last comp we had to 'rescue' a toy cat from a tree except he got it first  Entertaining, but not great for marks! He can do the flag race totally by himself too! :D

He also likes to do the PTV at great speed like it's a modified xc course :o

OMG. That's properly grand :D I hope someone caught that on camera? What a legend :D

It IS a modified xc course  I think he's right there :D
