But a really sweet horse who's been on the yard for as long as i've been there which is going to be the 4th this winter, was PTS this morning. She'd been suffering with a twisted pelvis and bone spavins and although it was initially thought she'd cope, she went down hill v fast within a matter of weeks. Anyway, it was for the best and she was in pain and could barely walk .
What got me, is that the owner obviously wasn't up this afternoon, and when i pulled up the yard today..the yard b1tch has put her pony in the mares stable. She was literally, jumping in her grave.

To me, thats the most unrespectful thing she could've done.
Sorry slightly pointless post..but felt i had to rant.

That is so sad to hear that the horse went down hill so fast. At least the owner had the sense to know when it was time to let go rather than letting the horse suffer. What a selfish b1tch to put her pony straight into the mares box. I hope you and other liveries complained to the YO and that the YO acted on it and told her to move it. I am sure the horse who was pts owner will want to be able to spend a little bit of time in her horses stable peacefully. I agree that it is most disrespectful given the circumstances, seems totally heartless.

I must say its not something I would have done myself but having said that if it was my horse that had been PTS I wouldnt of been upset, to me when I lost my old lad it was more upsetting seeing his empty stable.

But yes I must agree a little thoughtless.

I think the same day is very heartless actually. When the owner of the dead horse turns up to see another horse in 'her' stable it will be very upsetting. The yard bitch is obviously an insensitive, uncaring, selfish yard bitch

Very sad situation

I'm sure the owner could have done with a few moments in their horse's stable.

Unfortunately, not all people think like this, and sometimes they don't take others feelings into consideration. Sadly, when these things happen to them they are usually the type to kick up a fuss first!!

Sorry for the mare, sad for the owner, and all the nice people that paid their due respects

If I was the horse's owner and had just lost my horse I would have been EXTREMELY upset to turn up and find another horse in the stable on the same day. When I lost Mazzie part of the closure process for me involved clearing the stable out, and I was actually a little upset to find that people had done some of it before we got back from the accident! (Yes I am a bit weird, but I perceived it to be 'my' job) The day after the accident I went up and went through it with a fine tooth comb and took the name plate off, and then that evening Genie (who was going to be coming anyway) arrived and went into her stable. It was weird seeing her in there for a while, but that was where she was going to go eventually anyway. However that was different because Genie was MINE and it was MY decision to put her in there. Quite heartless on the part of the YB I think in your situation.

Sounds like a right bitch. Maybe someone should say something to her, and the YO should tell her to move it back before the owner sees and might get upset?

She'll be back out in the field by this evening so the owner will probably never know, the owner is the YM /YO.
What was even MORE annoying, was that this woman put her pony in there while she was riding her other 2..and so whilst she was riding, her stable was free anyway

Just to put a different angle on it.
My friend had her aged ArabX pts about this time last year. She also had another horse on the yard, so had reason to still come to the yard.
She asked the YO to make sure there was a horse in the stable when she came up the next morning as she couldn't bear to see it empty.
Some people deal with this in different ways I guess.

I think that would have hurt. When my first horse was pts I dreaded seeing the empty box, but when I went up to the yard it was the first place I went ... it was exactly as it was when we'd left for the vet hospital, except it had been mucked out. I walked round it a couple of times, and said one more goodbye.

It may well be that it was agreed between the YO and person who was renting the stable, that it could be filled straight away.

However, if it wasn't - the WTF??

I've got a feeling it wouldn't have been arranged, although i could be wrong , just seemed 'coinsidental' that she was put in there and the owner wasnt coming up at all. But, again i could be wrong.

Seems a tad heartless, but if the owner of the horse that was pts did not see then i suppose there is no harm done.

When i had my old mare pts last May, i immediately moved my youngster in her stable as could not bear to go in the morning and see no eager face or hear a welcoming whinny.

I have left my old mare's name plate on the door alongside my youngster's name plate, it makes me feel that my old mare is still with me.

I'd be upset to see another horse in my horses stable. I agree with Fihunt that it felt like my job to clean out the stable after my girls had died. It's a little thing but it does feel like something I needed to do. Unfortunately not everyone see things that way.

When I lost my old pony, who'd been my friend for 23 years, someone was asking if she could have my paddock even before his body had been taken away. I couldn't believe anyone could be so thoughtless.

Yes, when my friend's horse was PTS people were asking the YO if they could have her stable. WHILST she was being PTS someone went to knock on the YO's door. Now, *thats* heartless.....

Whilst I was waiting for the knackerman to take my mare's body away my YO came up and asked if I was going to get another horse or if he could rent out the stable. Hes a nice, kind old guy, but just not sentimental about horses. To him, they are livestock, and when you have livestock you have deadstock. So, you can look at it both ways, I guess.

My boy was PTS in February and I still haven't been able to clear out his stable - I wish someone would do it for me as I'm in floods of tears every time I've tried to go in there to do it. I'd like nothing more than to see a horse in there because the emptiness is far, far worse.
