I know he won't melt.
But Darcy HATES the rain and going by the colour I left him over a slight shower , he'll be filthy by tomorrow.
He's out atm in the POURING rain and the sky is black everywhere. He's of course without a rug.

Make me feel less guilty!?
What are all your lot doing tonight?

well I have one in and one out. Manni is out 24/7 without a rug.

Toby comes in at night - but he will have got wet during the day.

I shouldn't worry too much if I were you - they are designed to live outside after all

Hehe I know

I'll just go armed with a spatula/ spade to get the mud off in the morning.
There is at least tree's/tall hedges on 2 out ouf 3 sides that he can stand under , if his brain figures that out...

Aw, shame... but horses are designed to be waterproof, so I am 100% sure he will be fine!!
Enjoy the new brown horse, which i am sure you will find standing, possibly sulking in his field....
If it makes you feel slightly better, i just gave my filthy terrier a bath, and now i can see her running around the garden eating mole hills... WHY??!!

Lol! Can't answer that one i'm afraid

My collie - you know, the breed thats meant to endure the weather in all hills/ mountains etc is quivering with his head under the sofa over the heavy rain. Needless to say, he didn't make the cut..

All out (bar one who is in for the duration).
No rugs, but like you, i am wondering what colour the grey's will be in the morning!

D_L I have a collie that could be the twin of yours

Whenever there is heavy rain or thunder he goes upstairs to bed or curls up underneath my chair so I fall over him when I stand up

Back to the original topic I have one that loves to get wet and then roll in the biggest mud patch she can find

I would post a pic but photobucket ain't playing with me

dont worry, i felt like this earlier, but i did trudge up in the sleet/horizontal rain to put their rugs on as they are all TBs/ TB Xs and all pretend they get cold with the slightest bit of rain! im sure yours will be fine

I was actually just about to post saying the same thing! Bramble's out all the time without his waterproof rugs now. He does have a fly rug on as I don't have time to quickly nip down everytime some flys come out for an hour or so, but I would struggle to see how that'll protect him from the elments! Oh well, he an outdoor toughie, I better not wrap him up in cotton wool too much!

Oh, dw he does still like to pretend to be dying from the rain
smirk.gif
He wouldn't get hot even in a sheet but if I can't make it up in the morning I doubt he'd appreciate the 23 degrees in a rug
grin.gif

Besides, if he gets cold he can run around and loose some more weight

I brought mine in this morning, they were shivering (badly) at the gate this morning, I had to wash all of the fly rugs they were caked in mud.

They have been in all day while it was pouring down, I was thinking of putting them back out tonight but not one of them even looked at me when I went down to the yard, they were hiding from me so that I wouldn't throw them out .... so I left them in, there were sighs of relief all around!

My thoroughbred and thoroughbred x wb are out in the pouring rain without rugs! bless them hahaha, but they do have a field shelter and trees to hide under etc They won't have rugs on till Oct - Nov time. I'm sooo mean

DarcyLu you got there first I was only going to say I always think if he gets a bit damp frank might just loose a few more calories so not a problem.

However I do know it the other way round, mums anglo hates the rain and will run round incessantly and more often than not injure herself and pull her own shoe off, ............its easier to keep her dry

Hell i must be the meanest mummy in the world as i have left my 3 day old and 6 week old out in it with no rugs on and the 3 day old is a TB, but i admit i did tay and watch during the storm to see if she was ok and not a bother.
Let them toughen up whn they are young, my 6 week old was born in a thunderstorm in the field and did not dry out for about 5 days and he is as tough as old boots
