Went this morning to support a friend at a dressage comp.

Watched a teenager in the warm up on a beautiful horse, booting its ribs, gobbing it and then whipping it with her schooling whip for good measure. See sawing the reins, boot boot boot with the legs.

Poor horse was trying to make sense of what all this means, getting very confused, starts to shoot forward when its booted only for the girl to gob it even harder and growl.

Horse then decides its had enough and bronks her off, and I feel terrible I had a little laugh to myself and thought 'good for you neddie'. :o

Girl grabs horse, smacks it with her crop, yanks its reins for good measure and announces he's much too naughty to compete today so she's not going to do her test.

The joys of local level dressage, poor confused horsie!!

:D too right. Hooray for the horse. I saw a similar display a few months back with an adult on board. Sadly she stayed on but the poor horse! Confused by the kicking and pulling he opted for sideways only to get yanked back in line and repeat kick - pull- sideways:eek: It might have been funny if it wasn't so upsetting seeing the horse being abused like that.
I mentioned her awful riding afterwards to the RS only to find out she was also her instructor. Foot in mouth moment :o
