Hrmph!

Last Saturday I posted about the riding school pony who bronced me straight off in my lesson (myself having been assured she would not buck!). Well, today I had a jumping lesson on my little shared pony and, yup, hit the deck again!

Not pony's fault, it was my first jumping lesson in 7 years and I was nervous- not enough positivity resulted in a refusal and I toppled off. I think the lesson was a bit too technical for my current level of experience and confidence. We did a grid of bounce fences and, not having jumped for so long, I'm still just amazed to find myself on the other side of a fence! Certainly wasn't mentally prepared for another 4 after that! Would have been nice just to pop some small fences to get my confidence.

Does anyone else find that, if you have a fall, you're more likely to have another one quite soon after? I used to find it when at RS. Just after I'd joked to housemate this morning that I couldn't fall off two weeks running......!

Poor u! Hope u have a hot bath so ur not stiff tomorrow (or are u young enough not to feel it

) I always fall off in fours....

It wasn't much of a fall actually, I sort of tumbled out the side door in slow motion! Hurt last week though, that was a bit of a crash. It's more that it's made me feel a bit useless that I can't seem to keep the horse between myself and the ground these days! Which is a bit of a worry as I'm going hunting for the first time in two weeks....

To me it sounds like you just need to take things a bit slower, basically you have been pushing yourself to the limits which has probably caused it. Maybe just get back into it gradually would be more suitable and make sure you let your instructor know if you think something is too much. I am sure you'll be on top form in a month or two

I always fall off in pairs, sometimes within the schooling sesion, sometimes within the week after. Then I have about 6 months of no falling. I blame my mare though i think she likes to give me a break for a bit! although last time i fell off i didnt hit the deck soon after........... lets hope she is growing out of dumping me twice!

blimey u have great confidence to get on and go jumping again - well done! AND do grids! maybe try again and do poles and build up as you seem to love it. i certainly think horses can feel that you are hesitant and this will be escalated when jumping. i had a fall on fri - so heres to number two as am off riding now!

yep, i seem to go for a few months with no falls, and then fall off every week for a few weeks - ususally jumping related mind you. not much fun at my age!!

Oh no

Had a near miss yesterday too, just call me Miss Stickabilitiy... or not?!!!!

Hope you are ok, don't worry about it I have come off two different horses yesterday and last friday
