I am looking for a new horse, Only started a day or two ago and been to see 2 so far, the first one had a large lump on knee that he felt when you prodded it. The 2nd one had a nice jump but was roach backed.

I feel its going to be a long long time looking.

I started looking last year, wasted weekends, drove hundreds of miles to find the horses were NOT as described, finally found what I thought was my perfect horse a couple of months ago, but it is not working out, and I may have to start looking all over again!

Hope you have better luck than me!

Gosh - I was looking for 3-4 months!

Anyway, what are you looking for? There are 2 for sale on the yard I'm at. (1) 16.1 8yr skewbald gelding and (2) 15hh grey gelding.

The skewbald is on the PC classifieds title "Wright Puzzle" and the grey is on Horsequest but I'm not sure whereabouts. If you want more info on either then get in touch - incidentally, neither of them belong to me.

Dont get down about it, it has been such a tiny amount of time you have been looking!
To cheer you up just think about all the fun you are gonna have when you do find the right one!

Cheer up everyone its nearly the weekend : )
What are you looking for/budget?
I know a reputable dealer in Sussex selling more pushbutton types and another in Berkshire selling irish imports who are what you see is what you get, most have hunted.
Ive had good experience with both and any friend ive sent to the Reading one has come back with a horse.

Ah this takes me back! The first two horses I bought I bought the first one I saw. Then - it only seems to get harder. They're lame, they're not as they're described, they're nutcases, they don't do xc when you've asked if they'll event, they're overpriced...
On the flip side, selling can be a nightmare too! People who can't ride as they said, people turning up to view competition horses when all they want to do is hack, people who offer you stupid amounts under the asking price...
Buying and selling horses is a nightmare - good luck!

anyone know anything 16h up or able to carry 11.5 stone, that is a sensible hack and can cope with doing 2.3 xc and sj two or three times a year, not looking for a superstar, or something schooled to perfection or a beauty, age immaterial just a sensible cheapy, budget currently stands up to 2.5..(think i might have to save more!)

It may be a nightmare, but there are people who would kill to be in your position (including me). I am stuck with a horse I can't ride and no job yet to support a second. I hated looking for Maiden but the feeling when I found her and I knew she was "The One" was just fantastic. I can't wait to horse shop! Good luck

I keep looking but finding it really hard. The one I really like is just right for me but is too expensive sob! Keep going you'll get there!

vicki krystal - did you not get my pm???? he is lovely just not sure about teh funds. have a jumping lesson on him tomorro (well more like poles probably)

simarillion - im there too - my horse is on loan and im saving for abother - we run our own business so am doing that plus a pub job plus am selling everything i own including a gorge stubben saddle on ebay. only can afford 2.5 k as well!

I used to love horse shopping to be honest, I know if a horse is something i like or not. If I don't like it, I'll try it and be polite but will leave and call later and say it's not for me.

Don't stress about it, enjoy looking, you'll stumble upon one that's 'the one' soon enough!

OK, so those of you in the market for a horse - is it a good time to sell?

Bombproof (as much as a horse can be), very well bred, 9yo, mare, 16.2hh, low mileage, jumps, hunts, hacks, fun rides, ultra polite, good looking, easy to do in all ways...etc.

Thing is I want what I bought her for, which, for such a good hunter and allrounder is fair - which is OIRO £7k.

Just curious!

We looked at two we didn't bother getting on when my sister was looking for her new girl. Then we went to try a perfect lady, who is currently in our field with our other two and who continues to be a perfect lady, so it is possible, just keep on looking
