Its been 5 months now, and I have given up. We are not getting anywhere, and parents don't want to pay for diagnostics we need. (Yes we have insurance but it doesn't cover everything). So I've given up. I have nothing left in me to hope for a positive outcome. I would rather have the worst news possible now, but I just cannot stand not knowing. I'm trying to cope with the ever raising workload of year 11 and horses were my escape, I am now more stressed at the yard than anywhere else. I can't do anymore. I am on the verge of giving up horses completely now, as I just can't deal with this. Sorry for the whiney post, just needed to let it out.

((Hugs)) I've missed what's wrong but I'm sorry it's making you feel this way. Don't give up on horses altogether x
 
I don't know your background story, but I am sorry to hear you are struggling. Could you turn the horse away for 12 months to see if he comes sound and get a horse on loan in the mean time?

Sorry to read this, how rubbish for you.

If its any consolation, chances are a diagnosis wouldn't improve the situation since you have tried the standard treatments and they haven't really worked. What do you mean by giving up, what's the plan?

No, sadly not an option at my yard, and I don't want to move really. Also, horse was supposed to be sold by now as I have totally outgrown, so have not really got a clue what to do now.

I don't really blame them for it, they have to keep shelling out for her and its not fair on anyone really. And yes, have tried certain things, and had xrays, scans etc, but I just don't think we can do the scintigraphy. Chances are we wouldn't find anything conclusive either.

And by giving up; I don't know if I'm honest. Giving up hope I suppose. Plan- well who knows, thats half the problem, I'm the type of person who needs to plan, so the uncertainty of everything makes things worse.
 
sorry to hear that.i know it feels like a bottomless pit in terms of paying out for investigations for your parents.my daughter is also year 11 and already is under pressure with work.what have local vets suggested .were they advising further investigations.is she on box or field rest at the moment.

And I and them want to go down the scintigraphy route, but not really looking possible at the moment. She is half in half out atm, and is being lightly worked, (on advice of vet of course) but we just seem to be stuck between a rock and a hard place. Everytime I think we make progress, we get knocked back by about 10 steps the next day, and I've have had enough, and in so many ways, I just want out now.
 
It does us good to let things out and talk about things, better than bottling it all up, a problem shared is a problem halved...well you get what I'm saying, least that way you find out that your not the only one who's having a bad time, horses eh, they don't half cause us some heart ache at times and its doubled when your dealing with other pressures in life at your age, exams etc and trying to focus on where to go in life, but try and be strong, always think to yourself, where you want to be in 6 months time and focus on something positive, horses can always be in your life if you want them to be, unfortunately we don't always have a choice which ones, things will pick up in time.

unfortunatley you cant always have a plan.is it possible that with light work and time things may improve.for all of us not knowing is the hardest part but sometimes in time things change and become clearer.
