I got an early bday present today

What a fantastic pressie :) Ride and drive brood mares are the best, most sensible horses to be found, expecially the coloured ones. We have had one for over 20 years, whatever job you want her to do, from looking after children to being shepherdess, she will just get on and do it. :)

Thanks every one! I can't wait to love her to bits! She's so cuddly and loving, it's going to be very easy to love this one! ps I don't do mares!! Well looks like I do now! :D ( poor Freds tho living with 3 mares! He is so henpecked)

Aw she is gorgeous! It's funny, but as I have got older, cobs have appealed more and more to me. I think that if I ever get another horse, I will try to steer myself away from the TBs and WBs and be a bit more sensible. The foal at my yard will be the last horse I break in. He's already 15 hh at 9 months old. Sadly that has come at a price and he goes to Rossdales next week for an operation on his stifle OCD.

But back to the OP - I just love your new mare. She is a cracker. Lots of spirit and personality there, I think.

Happy Birthday Anna!!

Now you've gone all soppy on me and made me join the forum to say that special people deserve special presents...

Ahhhhhh you daft thing! Thank you so much!! She is so happy today in the field, forgot to tell you she was lying down when we arrived with Freddie on point! X

Aw bless, she is beautiful, what a pretty head! She'll look even more fantastic with some TLC. I gave my friend my bay Irish cob for her birthday last year - her face when i lead him down the ramp with a bow round his neck was quite completely & utterley priceless. I'm sure your friend & hubby enjoyed giving this amazing gift almost (but maybe not quite ;)) as you did receiving her. All the best for your future with her!

I know its not really possible but when I took her rug off last night she already looked better after a night of hay and a day of turnout, like not empty looking :D x

Its amazing how a belly of hay can make them look so much better :)
Good luck with her she looks really sweet, Im sure she will improve in no time x

Just a little update for those who are interested...... Foxy enjoyed her warm shower and is now alot cleaner bless her x

She looks great!!!

Is that a power shower, with warm water?

Oh no, that green stuff on my face is back.....

hehe we couldn't shower her in cold water!!!!! So we bought her and the others a hot horse shower, it's powered by gas... I think it was her first ever bath and she was very scared but soon realised warm water is lovely! xx

Bless her! Very envious of your equine spa...

Now then, wonder if farmer will go for it............

She is lovely and I'm a meanie and don't think she is that thin really. Perhaps pics don't show it. Just do be careful - did you put her straight out with Freddie? Has she been in isolation at all? I am so paranoid about strangles now with all the publicity it is getting.
She looks very sweet and I hope you have years of fun with her.

Awwww! This post made me grin like a loony! :D
What a wonderful thing for your OH and best friend to do! The newbie is gorgeous! :D
Happy Birthday OP! xXx

Ah ok. It's had to judge from a photo sorry.

Mine haven't met the hose in a long long time...can bits of horses really be that white?!

I know exactly what you mean, she doesn't look ribby and looks a lovely weight in the pics doesn't she, but her ribs have nothing over them, not even muscle, it's very sad, but the good thing is she is very hungry and is gobbling hay and lots of it :-) She's still fairly dirty too, have never seen a horse so dirty and what we thought was ground in dirt was growing out scabs ewwwwwwwwwww. I have another very white cob too, don't suppose they will ever look white for long hehe xx

She has been out with Freddie yes, and the other two mares, all living happily together, been 16 days now, so think we will probably be safe x OMG I have had her 16 days already
