I got it wrong!!

Out in the field earlier, it was clear that Penny wanted to play... with Meg being very grumpy auntie and Juno telling Penny she is far too old to play. Penny looked for me.
I can't play ponies!! I confused the poor filly - I know.... Iam good at playing 'dogs' but can't get my body language right with pony play!!

The look of confusion on her face will haunt me for the rest of the day..... in the end she played grandmothers footsteps, then galloped back to the others if I caught her moving... but this wasn't quite the game she wanted.

I gave her cuddles and a scratch, she liked that, but what she really wants is to chase and box and kick about.... she can't do that if she is playing with a person pretending to be a dog!!

So, ideas / tips on horse play please before the haunting image will last longer than a day!!!

Haha!! When I first got Shy, he tried to play very rough with me - full on skids, mini rears, cantering right up to me, all that. It was quite scary if I'm honest I tried to use the "I'm big mama" posture, and he did get the message.

He now plays quite violently with the shettie, and they have mad half hours, and I seem to be back to being a human again (almost).. but both ponies attempt to play footie with the dogs and a jolly ball in the field, with me kicking it. Or they did till it got too muddy and slippery

Played with Dizz for the first time the other week . Was brilliant . We just did a bit of tag - she looked confused at first, but quickly got the hang of it, and seemed to know that I'm a bit more vulnerable than she is lol.

D1 plays a lot with LC and LL . Her friend is videoing her today I think, so I'll put a link . LC is grand - he kicks and bucks and f*rts, but never ever gets her

I love playing with my horse! I used to do it when loose schooling him - much more fun that sending him around in boring circles. We played tag, follow my leader, a kind of mirroring game where I stood in the middle and made certain moves that he copied (I jump he jumps, I stamp one foot he strikes out, I spin he spins). He would charge about, rear and 'box', plunge etc but was incredibly careful never to come near me. I wouldn't try some of this with a horse I didn't know well and who didn't 100% respect me and my space though!

I just loved watching him light up and show off. Seeing him trotting or cantering loose but in full dressage mode - all gathered up, neck arched, tail lifted - was fantastic. A few times (don't tell the BHS) I slipped a lead rope around his neck and hopped on him. A never-to-be-forgotten experience
