The other day i was on a bus after a long day at the yard, and admittedly, i did smell, ALOT! Essentialy another customer complained and i was asked to leave the bus, i obliged as i was only one stop away and i did get my money back. My question is though what should i do if this happens again? What if i am further away from home as my bus only comes once an hour... not sure if this is the right place to ask but i think i may be judged on other sites and people might not undertand the smell ☺
 
I would complain! You've paid money to be on it and I've sat next to many a person that stank and didn't have the horse excuse.

I dont think the fact that you've had your money back in any way makes it forgivable. What if you were a young girl and it wasnt so close to home? By happy circumstance you were so close to home is the only reason you didn't mind.

I'd be fuming.

I do agree with Aimeet not sure I would have been so happy to get off!! Plenty of drunks on buses who smell terribly.

Could you just have some bidy spray at yard and spray all over prior to getting on bus? Or put overalls on for mucking out so your clothes don't smell
 
That's totally ridiculous as others have said 1. what if you were a child and 2. I've seen some right skanky smelly unhorsey people on buses! Its not like you were abusive or drunk or aggressive!!
 
Assuming you weren't dropping dung or mud off your boots or clothing I would complain to anyone who would listen. I also would admit to smelling a lot. If you work with horses that would be an occupational hazard.

Sounds pretty unfair. I've sat next to some right honkers.
point out horses are vegetarian and you're not carrying dog ***** on your boots.How rude of them.
 
I assume you were on the way home after mucking out, doing yard jobs etc, and we all know the associated whiffs are not acceptable to many people. If you must go somewhere where you have to be in close proximity to other people, then you ought to at least try to reduce the effect by wearing overalls or other clothes to do your horsey stuff. Leave your horsey stuff at the yard afterwards and travel home in something a bit more socially acceptable, keep hand wash and body spray at the yard and use it before leaving. Sorry OP ... I'm as horsey as everyone else on here, but I don't see why the rest of the world should have to have your "stable" whiffs imposed on them when it would be very simple to avoid it.
 
I would take a clean coat to yard, and swop into that (leaving horsey one at yard), before getting bus. I would think you must have been pretty stinky for someone to complain, no-one wants to be known as a dirty berty!!
 
Oh the shame .....! I too would take a coat to put on if you haven't got time to change.

I can't tell you the amount of times I have smelt the odour of dodgy ciggies wafting on the bus on the odd occasions I get the bus. How they get away with it Lord only knows!
 
All though i don't believe you should of been kicked of the bus and find that highly unacceptable, I o also agree that an effort should be made not to inflict the stink on others in a confined space. I would be equally disgusted sat next to a smoker or sweaty betty.
I don't even like my car honking incase I have to pick someone up I have a waterproof boot liner and place my wellies in a bag in the boot and strip my coat off etc before getting in the front. regularly wash your yard clothing wear waterproof over trousers and jacket if you can and keep a pair of pumps to hand so smelly boots can be put in a boot bag and out clothing can be placed in a sealed bag before getting on the bus. keep body spray down the yard.

Oh Gloi that's horrible! When I was younger I once had to pay my bus fare home with copper (it was all I had!) and the bus driver told me to ******* off! He did still let me on but went 'oh ******* off*', rolled his eyes and sighed when I gave him a handful of copper :rolleyes:
 
Complain. Smokers smell far worse than horsey people especially as they seem to only put their fag out as the bus arrives!
 
How rude!!!

I would rather sit next to a horsey person than someone who smells like they've bathed in their own p!$$ for a week! I would definitely complain, that's really awful to do it on a bus in-front of other people, why would you want to humiliate someone, they don't do it to people who smell like they haven't washed in months? I would refuse to move - they should have told the person who complained to do one if they were that bothered. Make sure you roll in the muck heap before you get on it next time! :mad:

Now I've got that out of my system...:D I would just make sure your boots are rinsed and as clean as possible then they can't pull you for leaving muck on the floor. But other than that, horsey smells stick to everything, skin and hair as well as clothes. I can make a quick change to go to the shop and can still see people giving me a sniff because I still smell, and I'm not showering just to nip to the shop for milk!

It's horrible to think they would remove someone from a bus and expect them to walk home, like you've said, you could be miles away. Anything could have happened to you, it's dangerous and everyone is entitled to use public transport, regardless of odours and attire.
 
That's awful! Maybe just change your coat next time, last year when I was 16 I got screamed at by my male cab driver for wearing 'dirty' wellies in his cab. They weren't dirty at all as I always make a point to scrub my wellies in the wash bay before I get the cab. I was really quite scared and now I always change my shoes :(

Off topic but that happened to me years ago and I knocked on the door of the only house where anyone was home which was a superstar singers house, the lady there ran me a bath and gave me his dressing gown to wear and called my mum to come and get me, he chatted to me while I waited and I tactlessly told him I was a fan of one of his rival singers - I was too young to realise how famous he was lol

I remember reflecting on how it was impressive that he was rich enough to buy Body Shop stuff in litre bottles on the way home while my mum spent the journey berating me for bothering him!

I travel on the bus to work with my folding bike, so I will always smell a little of sweat, etc. There was a chap on Friday who stank like a hog rendering plant and was swigging from a bottle in a poly bag, but I would not dream of complaining. There is another chap who I sometimes see in the queue for the bus going home who always has a 2 metre exclusion zone around him as his BO makes my eyes water. He still goes on the bus.
