A few months ago I ended up with a little welsh filly. I had decided after the death of Ellie last year that I would never have another filly/mare. After all they are moody, stubborn, difficult and pains in the bum generally! Unfortunately my little lads being the escape artists they were had to be moved to 'secure accomodation' and the lady who is looking after them asked if I could have this little filly in return. Lolapony (we have dog called Lola so Lola pony is Lolapony!) came with a list of 'issues' and I took her unseen.
Lolapony is wonderful. Everyone who meets her is besotted with her and Blue adores her. She is the first field mate he has had who can put him in his place and he loves her for it. I have had three offers from people to buy her and she is only 20 months old. She is, however, going nowhere. And the 'issues' are nowhere to be seen.
Today Lolapony was laid down close to the spot where Ellie died last summer. I sat with Lola and she gave a big sigh of contentment and rested her head on my knee. Well that was it, there I was sat in the grass with this big baby girl asleep with her head on my lap close to where Ellie died. I just cried and cried and realised it was the first time I had properly cried since Ellie had died.
I can't thank the lady who gave her me enough, and even though she will never be big enough for me to ride she is here to stay - she is the best medicine ever and having Blue and Lola in my life makes getting out of bed worthwhile.
Applogies for the soppy post, here is the culprit........ by the way, what colour is she? Her passport says blue roan but I'm not too sure, she has a lot of pinky red in her coat.
