I often wonder about Elsie and her past, so decided to have a reading done.

I recieved my reading via email a couple of days ago, I hadn't asked any questions, just asked what Elsie had to say.

Some of it could probably have been guessed. Why would you want to know about your pet if you knew its full history? The psychic therefore could come to the conclusion that she was a rescue - which was stated in the reading. If one concluded the dog was a rescue dog you might think that the dog would take a while to settle in, which was stated in the reading.

However, some things were weird. Elsie was apparently bouncing about singing Foxy Roxy. We have a JRT called Roxy (also called Foxy Roxy!), who Elsie plays with a lot. The reading said that Elsie appreciates the freedom and space she has now, which she didn't have before (we have a half acre garden and a large house, she came from a cramped three bed house with seven people living in it, and a small garden). She (Elsie) likes that we don't leave her alone (true, she is with us 24/7 apart from a couple of hours a week when we shop). Elsie doesn't like being on the lead as she feels 'claustrophobic and hemmed in' and it makes her nervous. True. She is on the lead all the time unless we are in the woods or fields, but we do put her on the lead if strange people and dogs approach because people get a bit nervous when a large Rottie is bounding about loose! If she meets another dog/person accidently, she is actually fine, but she does tend to lunge if she is on the lead. Now the really weird comment was that Elsie told the psychic about a steam train. The lady saw a steam train and heard the whistle. What is spooky about that is that around us are several steam railways. I don't think we have been near a steam train with Elsie, but her last owners definately lived within earshot of a steam railway, and we are only 15 minutes away from the line.

I tried hard to be objective when reading the reading. As I said, some things could have been guessed at, but others, such as the steam train were rather accurate.

I'm thinking of have Fat Angus (pony!) done, just to see what he has to say; he will probably come across speaking in a broad Scottish accent and just tell everyone to F... Off!

did you have to give your address or any details which could give an idea of where you lived? be easy to find out about steam trains being close by if you did, i'm such a cynic that i have real trouble believing:)

I thought this was some cryptic thread slagging me off, made even worse by the fact my horse is called Foxy!!!!! I was flabbergasted for a few seconds :D

I have a couple of the horses "read" before, I would certainly do it again if I had concerns. A lot of it is quite vague, but there were a few things that were amazingly accurate.

I've never thought about having my dogs "read", though I do feel in general it is easier to tell what's going on in their head than the horses.

I googled myself and my horse and nothing came up. I have never mentioned him by name on here. And some of the things she mentioned I have never discussed on the Internet/Facebook.

Not sure I'd want to know what the terrier-ists think lol. Would be interesting to know about the horses think giving their racing history and Nelson coming close to death twice.

I didn't give the lady my surname, nor the name of Elsie. I just emailed two photo's from an email account that isn't my name. My paypal account isn't my name either.

All I did was say 'I have no questions I wish to ask, would just be interested in what the dog has to say'.

I am a fence sitter on these matters, but just the fact that one or two things were really relevant has swayed me a little. Will definately get Fat Lad done, I do know some of his history so would be interesting to see if what the lady says and what I know about him tally.

Will pm the name to those who asked later, off out in a mo :)

I'm a cynic. Someone on another forum had one done..I managed to find all the same info as this reader did by Googling minimal information (I think just the dog's name, breed and owner's first name - not even sure if it was all that) and then finding links to posts, Photobucket accounts, etc.
Google also has an image search function that makes it quite easy to trace where copies of photos have been put up online, email addresses can link to forum accounts which may use the same username as other forums you don't necessary think are linked at all to that email address and so on. Anyone with some spare time and a good dose of nosy-ness can find out all sorts on people via the internet!

I had the big dog done blind and she made reference to him once being owned by a very tall man, reference to the size of his heart, and a few other things which she could not have known.

Tried to have his sister done in person and the woman said she could not connect with her at all, which made perfect sense also!!!

they don't need your name if they have your email or other contact details, a simple google search can find most people quite quickly and then you can read all sorts about them.

Why anyone would tolerate this nonsense and pay for the pleasure I have no idea... perfectly sane women too.

I do family history research and so called impossible people have been very quickly traced with very little information to go on.

Having said that its a recession and business is business.... sounds lucrative!:D

Sounds intersting! Especially as you didnt provide your e-mail details, so no way of 'researching you' Can you let me know how much and some details too please. :)

All the lady had was our email address, nothing else. I have googled our email address and nothing at all comes up, so doubt she could have found any info out about us at all.

In the process of pm-ing those who asked for details....

I did a dummy run of one of these readings with mind to having the horse done if I thought anything in it. I used one of the dogs whose history I know from birth, then I carefully put forward very open questions, a couple that were undoubtedly usual qs people ask looking for a certain answer (in the case of rescues or pasts unknown) that would not be relevant to my dog at all. There was NOTHING in the lengthy reading that I felt was accurate or factual other than what could have been surmised by pure guess work, infact some parts were inaccurate completely. I was disappointed actually, I was serious about the idea for the horse.

Have had many clients horses read from the same lady. Many horses apparently saying the same things. Her I believe to be an utter fake. Others not to sure

It all sounds very interesting, and I find myself feeling tempted, but you've got to ask yourself how could anybody possibly just look at a couple of snaps of your dog and then give you information based on a that?? It just defies logic..

I could extend a little more belief, but not much, to a person who actually meets the animal - but from photos??

I can't help but imagine that person pocketing your hard earned cash, that they have just earned so easily, with a sly grin.

I didn't really care about the money TBH, the first one was £30 which was a lot less than I would pay for a basic script from the vet...I think that is a consult fee for my 'big' stuff vet, and the second lady was free as she was staying with us and offered.

I havnt had any horses or dogs read but a few years ago I went to see a medium so similar.

At the time I was transcribing a lot of parish records from Devon and as often happens the same families came up all the time. Well I was completely gobsmacked by my reading as this lady told me some of these names, where they came from(she was right) and their lives. I couldnt verify their lives but when she said a certain family had lost x number of children I knew she was right as I had also done the death records. I was disappointed that she couldnt say anything about me or my family but I was so immersed in these parish records I wasnt entirely surprised.
