I just had the best lesson, was really worried I wouldn't be able to ride as still ache all over and finger is strapped up and useless, but though I would give it a go.
Was going to just do flatwork, and we did some work at the beginning on cantering a smaller circle (very hard work for J) The did some leg yield away from the track (something his brain finds very hard!) and he was very good. We then decided to have a jump and worked on two fences on a figure of eight. At first it was all fairly OK, nothing special and occasionally a pole would fall. He just wasn't concentrating. So she suggested I tried waking the canter up a bit (something I don't usually dare to do) and wow! what a difference, he did the most amazing canter for me, really uphill and active, came round and he just flew it. Did the two jumps together on the figure of 8 and managed to keep he canter into both of them and the difference was amazing. I could actually sit and squeeze with my legs without him rushing off, making the shape over the fence 100 times better.
She also thinks I should do the BN next Thursday so very excited now
Sorry, very self indulgent post, but on a bit of a high, especially after yesterday, if this is what we can achieve with a half broken me, then cant wait to see how it will be when I am better.
