I have never really had a problem traveller, even Bertha who went through that terrible terrible accident travelled well, up until last night so had Oshk, he doesn't like travelling on the end of a waggon but on the whole he is good to travel.
Last night he set off fine, Bec didn't want to go as it was the Hickstead trials so we took the trailer as it was easier. Got about 2/3rds there and the coloured just went nuts. Couldnt find his footing, we stopped a couple of times and he settled but then he almost fell over so I had to unload him in the middle of a junction because the poor lad could not stand up. I can't understand it, I have always travelled him at that side and never before have I had a problem. We unloaded Monters and boxed them both at opposite sides, and I said I would stand in with him for the rest of the journey. Started off scrambling but then got his footing and travelled fine the rest of the way, I was a wreck though, it did really scare me and I had thought at one point he was going to damage himself. I only ever put back boots on to travel but luckily I had his OR boots on from because I was jumping himself, and he had torn his back boots to pieces on the bottom, I am so so so glad I put them on. Got there, sound as a pound, chilled as a cucumber and jumped absolutely perfect, followed by a lovely journey home, thank god.

Yes I understand it is very dangerous but my main concern at that time was my horse and my presence calmed him down. Sar we went to Nook for hickstead trials, he was a saint, I want you to see his jumping now, you honestly wont believe he is the same horse, he is so quiet in front of his jumps! He jumped the 1.10m clear so hopefully I shall take him down with the team this year.

Well done!! 1.10 is rather big!!

I know, I will have him reg'd soon! Its a school team so I dont think you will know the others.
I thought you would be at Nev's funeral today actually Sar, has your mum gone? I wa going to go with david but I couldnt really face it, hate funerals.

Dont worry, Ive travelled in a trailer with a stressed out horse too! Yes its illegal, but then you'd rather try to keep the horse calm which is safer than leaving him to flip out and then having to unload him onto a main road (like you had to do!). I had to travel about 6 times with one of my youngsters who just couldnt get used to travelling. It helped immensly being in with him because he was clicker trained so whenever he was calm he got a click & treat. He soon learnt to relax and now he travels perfectly!

Something must have scared him or something. Odd that he normally travels so well though. Its good he travelled home fine though. Hopefully you wont have any more probs.
