2 ponies in a field with long feet. not far off looking like pixie boots. black pony is also very square while brown horse is shaggy and much thinner.
I know I might have done the right thing, but I might cause offence to the owner.
Will I know what happens, do they follow up from a phone call?

Sod the owner. If they cant look after the ponies properly being offended doesnt come in to it.

Well done for reporting it. i would phone the rspca in a week and see what has been done. They arent always the most pro-active!

I have rung the RSPCA before, and they told me that they would let me know what happens etc. But they didnt. All I know was that the horse was taken off the horsemart website so im not sure if they took him away or if someone felt sorry and bought him poor guy! If only I had enough money then but would have cost a fortune in vets bills! But anyways .. dont worry about causing offence to the owner. Because its all confidentiality. So they wont say any names or anything. Plus, the owner shouldnt let his/her poor horses get into that type of mess anyways. (I say mess but cant find the right word) as any horse owner knows to get there feet trimmed. Dont worry about it. Its the horses health that is important and if I saw a horse like that I would also call them. xx

Ditto.

We had trouble with a persistent RSPCA reporter - it was either a nutter or someone doing it out of malice. The RSPCA was told everything from the horses were bored(?!!) to one had a broken leg (stood resting his leg) BUT if it mean that for every d**k head call we got a genuine horse case was looked into - i dont mind!!

If your right -you did the right thing and they deserve the visit
if your somehow mistaken - better to be safte than sorry!!

I've reported a horse i saw being ridden that was so poor and thin i nearly crashed with shock. i was so angry i had to pull over and convince myself not to go back and beat the girl up. I did turn the car round and i saw her taking the horse into its field - so i reported it and gave them the full address. I never got a call back - but ive drove up there and the little mare has gone....hope shes ok

I think better safe than sorry and your concern was genuine. Even if they can't seize the horse they can make the owner aware of what needs doing and keep an eye on the situation.

I have called them to a horse with an open wound on it's face with flys going in and out and maggots. The owner had to get the vet out asap which put my mind at rest. The RSPCA did call me back and reassure me that firstly I did the right thing and secondly I was anonymous to the owner so I didn't have to worry about getting a load of verbal abuse.

Rspca are about as much use as a chocolate teapot! WWW would be best for the next step as i Highly doubt the Rspca will get off there fat arses to do anything!!

Unfortunatly it willl depend on the calibre of the RSPCA officer sent to investigate. Some are great, some are awful and know next to nothing about horses. Call WWW too if nothing is done withing the next week. I doubt they will call you back but you never know.

You def did the right thing. Well done

our RSPCA are totally usless .
i used to have 3 cats and sometimes they would come in with the back legs shredded! i took them to the vets and they got sorted poor little mites xx rip scraggy n gizmo
i called the RSPCA to say im pretty sure that we have someone laying traps up on the embankment and i was darn sure my cats were getting stuck in them but managing to get free.
all they said was for me to go up there and poke a stick in the bushes and set them off and then collect them up!!!

i said thats a bit cheeky when its cost me alot of money over the months to get my cats legs fixed and all you can do is say that!
i was totally disgusted with the treatment i got . so i did go up and poke sticks in the bushes and got ripped to shreds myself in doing so . but i could retrieve and traps.
i however know that someone down our street was a poacher at the time and i made it pretty clear i wasnt impressed so i think they went up and took them away.
thankfully no more vet bills as the cats recovered very well . sadly in their old age have gone to heaven .
but i wouldnt waste my phonecall on the RSPCA
i dont have any faith in ours in this area ..
not saying that other areas are bad ..
good luck . hope it gets sorted xx

Im sorry, but the RSPCA will do f*** all!
Ive rung them about 2 mares and a new born colt that were nearly dead and I had to rescue them myself!

I'd go to World Horse Welfare or the BHS as a first port of call in relation to horses as they are specialists and understand the needs of horses.

Give them a call now and don't tell them you have already spoken to the RSPCA.

Rang the RSPCA but despie the pony having chronic lami and the other pony having a crack half way up his hoof which was opening because they ponys had water (which we normally topped up) and food they couldnt do anything about it
