but I would love some opinions on the mare in this ad please.

We have been looking for a cob of similar height but her temprement sounds great and she has been used as a kids pony. Owner thinks she will be big enough to carry me at 5 foot six and 10.5 stone. I have to be open minded as EVERYONE wants the cobs! I'm no expert on confirmation so any opinions will be gratefully listened to and any advice from apply owners.

Now that I have signalled an interest in public she will sell in the next half an hour before I even get the chance to see her....

Come on guys, you're normally so opinionated! At least tell me if I'm too much of a heiffer to ride her. Just do it gently. :) Owner says she has lost a lot of wieght weaning the foal and she should be stockier than the pic.

She looks lovely but I'm the same height as you and I think I would feel too leggy on a 14.1.. Although others would disagree, I'm just getting used to riding smaller (mine's 15.1) and I've always had 16hh plus, so it could just be a personnal thing. The thing is you'll only find out when you go to see her. You'll soon know!! Good luck!! :)

Ta Dispy Deb! I have been riding smaller animals at the yard (my last mare was 15h and chunky) but they have all been quite stocky so took up my leg. I am stuck becuase I can only look at animals between 14h and 14.2h as I need to share with my daughter for PC in a couple of years. She does look fine and it worries me a bit.

If your daughter is going to be PCing her, then you might want to check out what she did English and why she was retrained for western. They are two very different styles, and not all horses manage to cope with knowing both ways - don't get me wrong many are fine, but it's fairly conflicting.

Other than that she looks sweet, but difficult to see much from that particular photograph.

I'm 5'2, 7 stone and on a 15.3hh, which I feel isn't too big, and I don't think I look too small on him? Although, I'd also probably feel fine on a 14.2hh ish. :)
