I hate hacking, we don't trot on the roads and being a tad elderly I just get too stiff plus the ever increasing risks from traffic. If I could hack off road where it was possible to trot and canter I would be fine.
I've done the motorway bridge thing too, I was riding a 14hh tank like highland when something bonged on the motorway right below us and she took off straight for the rails which are not that high! I've never sat on horse on it's backside so hard before or since, then whirled her round and trotted briskly off, reaction then hit big style. It must be 30 years ago this happened and if I had to cross one today it would be at a sharp trot in the middle of the road with my heart in my mouth.
