As I said, it has taken may comments from many people to grind me down to the point where I cannot stand any anti-chestnut comment. I used to deal with it in a jokey way, 'Oh well, at leat she doesn't show the mud' etc...

I have no problem with people liking one colour over another, or indeed disliking a particular colour but there is no need to be rude about it.

People are perfectly entitled to say they don't like a particular colour of horse, everyone has preferences, how could it possibly bother you so much that people don't like chestnuts, I mean, honestly, who cares, there are evidently plenty of people that do like them.
There are an awful lot of people that hate coloured horses, and I've had my fair share of "bog pony" comments, but I'm not really arsed, I like my coloured, and that is really all I care about.

I won't be bullied into agreeing with a theory - because that it what it is, a THEORY just because you take exception to my dissidence.

I have had chestnut horses all my life. My father's side of the family are all ginger. All the patients I have looked after that have been ginger.....

They are not prone to neuroses or low in pain threshold.

So no - I don't believe in the theory and I can call it codswallop if I wish. A scientific theorum often falls down when faced with the wonder of individuality.

There is no need to question my education, intelligence or call me patronising.

I feel that says more about you than I.

I will leave this now as it does not enhance the original question.

Yep, you're saying that people have made anti chestnut comments for so long that it has ground you down and you now "cannot stand" any more anti chestnut comments.
Out of interest how old are you? As I have said before, people on here are perfectly welcome to "hate" chestnuts. I personally would not get out of my car to tell you that, but I am allowed to think it, if I wish.

Whether there is or there isn't a correlation between having red hair and anything else is a matter of scientific fact, but either way this doesn't support any kind of moral claim about the lesser value of red haired people or horses, nor does it prove that all red haired people or horses will conform to the theory.

I don't know anything about the scientific question but google scholar brings up the following:

1. A number of studies showing a correlation between having red hair and increased anaesthetic requirements (via the melanocortin-1 receptor whose mutations result in red hair), e.g.

I wouldn't have a mare unless it was particularly special- I just don't get on with them.
My OH has a wonderful chestnut gelding, but it is a typical windy TB and very accident prone, he loves it, I don't get along with it, as a rule I do not get on with chestnuts- my liver chestnut is the absolute bain of my life.
My OH is also chestnut, and he too is neurotic and accident prone, it is something in the ginger gene- try having a ginger OH and a ginger ptper at the same time, it's a struggle... ;)

i dont think it remotely childish or stupid thanks !obviously people have a right to opinion but chestnut is so widely disrespected and every horse has a completely different personality so i dont think it fair to say theyre neurotic,accident prone,have low pain tollerance or any thing else every horse has a different personality
