Although I rarely get around to posting anything on here and spend more time reading it whilst looking over my shoulder for my boss [

], there is one thing that is likely to get me writing — question of the week! I genuinely love it and that is my confession — I am a complete loser!!!

Anyway, back to the point — the question is should kids be taken out of school to compete, what do you reckon?

I'm torn — I got taken out for the odd rally and stuff, whereas my sister still misses chunks of uni to go off to SJ'ing festivals, but where do you draw the line?

Also, funny story relating to the question... when my sister and I were still at school, my parents got a letter from the headmaster telling them off for taking us out of school to go SJ'ing. I think it is fair to say that it made my dad's day to call him back and inform him that we had, in fact, been competing for the school team on the day he was referring to!

Well most children's classes are the weekends - so no need for kids to be taken out of school.

However, University is another thing. And as adults, a student is capable of making a decision on whether they can afford to take the time off (in relation to where they are with their studies) and can make up the time lost by putting some extra effort in.
 
I take my daughter out of school to compete but only if it is an inter schools competition. She has Saturday school so we sometimes just have to miss things. However her headmaster is fab and will let her miss games the week before competitions in order to practice.
 
I think kids have enough time around school to compete and shouldn't be taken out of school for this purpose, their education is more important than any rossette!

Once they are older and have a realistic attitude towards work and studies they can decide whether or not they can afford the time but as infants I think they should be left in school.
 
My daughter would hate to be taken out of school to compete she loves school and at the moment I have to tell her she is to sick to go to shool.

Im sure this will chage she is only 13 at the mo!"!
 
One daughter is home educated, so we can work round whatever else she wants to do

. She spends her morning riding horses, and her afternoons and early evenings studying. Loves it!

Her sister has said she wants to come out of school, so as she can have a better chance of getting the exams she needs to be a Zoologist! She's eleven and having a whale of a time on the social side at school.
