On Sunday I collected a young Working type Cocker, being rehomed as he was just the wrong dog in the wrong home.

Lovely young dog, friendly and happy, good recall, plays with a ball and should make a fab pet for an active family. He just needs a job to do, agility, flyball, doggy dancing or just a nice companion for long walks, or even a nice companion for the beating line out shooting.
He has a little separation anxiety but that's to be expected, but is improving all the time

He gets on so well with my 3 dogs, they all just accepted him and are showing him the ropes.

The charity will offer him for rehoming in a few weeks if he continues to be fairly straightforward.

Not sure what I've done to the pic, I thought it had posted.

Oh I say, he's lovely!! Aren't you tempted to keep him?

No, not really, I have 3 lovely dogs already. I feel happy that by giving this boy a temporary home, a decent assessment and sttarting some basic training he will have a great chance at finding his perfect forever home. He is a lovely boy though.

Just been for a soggy off lead walk out in the big wide arable fields surrounding my house. He is so well behaved, great recall and doesn't go to far but growing in confidence to leave me and play with the others.

Can't see the picture of him unfortunately but just wanted to chirp up and say Spaniels are such brilliant little dogs that often get the short end of the stick sadly. At least this fella has been given a fighting chance and found you to help him find his feet.

20p says you end up keeping him. :p

I'm NOT keeping him! He is mega cute though and will make a great dog for an active home where he has another dog to play with.

His separation anxiety has improved no end with the consistent use of a crate, he is now quiet all night, in the utility room with the other dogs, in his crate. He squeaks a bit when he can see me on the yard with the horses, but sits quietly at the gate with the others. He is quiet now if I disappear into the barn, or a stable.

He loves to please and is a bright little dog, could do agility or flyball as very trainable and quite fast, or just make a lovely active pet. Currently crashed out in the kitchen following a 20 min romp around the fields. He doesn't need hours of exercise, just consistent handling and kindness. I had him hunting up for tennis balls yesterday in long grass, seems he can use his nose so could even make a gundog if he is ok with gunshot.

Naww I'm glad he's getting a good start with you. Spaniels are such keen, eager little dogs that live and breathe to make us happy and they deserve to be with owners and handlers that will bring out that side and let them just be and develop their own little personalities.

Brilliant little dogs I'd love to know how he progresses and where he eventually settles :)

He's lovely! I do keep thinking about getting Mrs Spaniel a friend in a year or two but she's such a solitary dog and not interested in playing with other dogs that I don't know how she'd take to one

Don't tempt me! If I'm completely honest with myself circumstances are not right to get another right now but hopefully in a year or two another to play flyball with will definitely be a possibility

He is adorable though!!!!

I will! I def want to offer another a new home as I know I'm too busy for puppies as much as I'd love one

Are they fussy about people working?
I'm currently out the house from 8-5pm although my brother lets her out for a wee break either at 11 or at 3 depending on his shift pattern.

You won 20p!

Thistle, is it first fome first served for people applying for one of their dogs? On the FB page there are some comments where people say 'have applied' - is there any point anyone else applying after that?

Not all homes that apply are suitable, people tend not to read the dogs requirements carefully and apply just because it looks cute! Always worth applying and also keep a look out on new in for assessment, although many fosterers fail or dogs go to friends and family etc.
