I have a section C little 13'2 pony who just isnt fast enough

i have a 13'2 little section C who i do everything on but mostly i do games he is going up for sale now though because he is just not fast enough for the games but i really dont want to sell him because he just excells in anythihng and everything i have done with him. he is an amazing little games pony but just hasnt got the speed i just woundered if anybody had any ideas to speed him upp apart from oats beacuse they just dont touch him thank you very much.

if he hast got the turn of speed, maybe you should try something else and do games for a bit of fun. my old welsh c was brought as a hunting pony but got way too hot on the field. in the end i tried show jumping her and got to JC before we sold her.

thing is tho he is only on loan to us and we have to sell him for them or buy him soo its kinda hard but he is soo sweet are you looking to sell or loan yours?
 
then sell him and get another one. if getting to HOYs is that important to you, you have to make sacrifices. i would sell him for his owner and go horse hunting. if your in a team now, let people know your looking for another and something will come up. good luck
 
i have the same problem with a connemara that i event - perfect in every way but not fast enough! try him on redcell supplement - can really perk them up! mines on oats too which helps and i keep him superfit!
 
I assume you are looking to make the A team next year as it is probably a bit late for this year with areas already underway. Is your pony fit enough? My 13.2 section C x was an amazing games pony who went to HOYS and Windsor several times so hopefully the speed should be there it is just a question of releasing it. As bean88 said redcell can really help if they are just lacking a bit. Does the pony have the speed out of the arena on a lomg gallop or does it just not show any kind of speed that you are looking for. If it has the speed it may just be a case of teaching it to accelerate faster and have the confidence to accelerate in the confines of an arena.
