I have an uncomfortable Mimosa

Really interesting to read this. The area you describe Mimosa having pain is the same area my mare has the same.

We scoped but she has a very healthy (no ulcer) stomach. My vets pleased with her movement and isn’t sure what else to try, physio can’t pick anything up. 😔 Might try a Bute trial next.

Did Mimosa stop reacting to this area once the ulcers were treated? We were questioning if to treat for hind gut ulcers.

She was better within weeks. She scoped clear with two rounds of omeprazole. She does get tucked up and sensitive in her belly more easily now, if she’s been through a stressful time or when I changed hay supplier and she objected to the new offering. I am now using protexin acid ease in her feed (she didn’t go for aloe otherwise I would have preferred that). And I use the quick fix syringes if we are doing anything unusual.

Really helpful, thank you LG. Glad to hear she has improved. Although she is fab to load and travel, we did box out today so unless that causes internal stress, belly pain and explains the symptoms.

My horse is a cob, a good doer who mainly lives out. Became increasingly girthy and sensitive- also between front legs which is where stomach lies. I tried Protexin acid ease but no improvemen. On advice of physio, had her scoped. Both squamous and glandular ulcers. Now on 8 weeks treatment. Don’t hesitate to get your horse scoped if you suspect ulcers. Then you know exactly what you are dealing with.
