Dont know if its my age or what, but I am finding it increasing hard to motivate myself to ride. I only hack about, and go to the stable prepared to ride but doesnt take me much to not bother. I am wondering if I should give up altogether. Its not just the winter months either. Horse is becoming a field ornament. Love my horse and dont actually mind the work side of it but it seems such a waste.

Just keep thinking of the hot summer nights, hacking along the country lanes watching the sun going down, dont think about the driving rain, or the wind that whips round the yard, blowing wet hay everywhere, or the puddles you step in thinking they are 1inch deep only to find you are up to your knees........keep thinging of that warm, balmy sun...........

Just over 4 weeks to the shortest day....then spring will come quickly! I cant ride at the moment as my lad had laminitis and I am in no hurry to get him back out in this weather...no fun for either of us and the extra field rest will do him good.

I rode today but it was the first time for about 10 days

I dont see the point in riding if I am not going to enjoy it..... or him for that matter.

He lives out 24/7/365 so isnt worried by lack of work and as the field is on a hill he stays fairly fit anyway.

I usually dont ride from Dec to Feb because of the weather.... but pay for it with aching muscles when I start again
