Mine was Guttural Pouch Empyema and Chondroids

Had lots of positive replies, many refuting the vet's opinion that it was an impossible condition to resolve. They were absolutely right

Then I was informed my pony was probably suffering from...................................Cushing's

so back to the Veterinary board for more help and advice.

Once again HHO came up trumps

I'm still here and so is Polly.

[/ QUOTE ] It depends on the type of haylage! If the haylage is analysed and is made from a low-fructans grass and is cut late, it is can be a better option than hay of unknown analysis. I used to feed my old Cushings laminitic on High Fibre (and/or Timothy) Horsehage with no problems at all. But wouldn't have dreamt of giving her big bale haylage of unknown provenance.

Thanks for that TGM ... I knew Timothy was ok but the rest I was not sure about ..... I am an old fashioned standard bale owner ... and soak for 12 hours

... after a scare last year I am now more paranoid

Soaking hay is an excellent way to get rid of the soluble carbohydrates in hay. In my case, it wasn't a very practical option due to lack of mains water on the yard, so I found the Horsehage to be a useful alternative.

I can understand your paranoia - been there and got the tee-shirt.

Sadly, the pony concerned is no longer with us, ironically, nothing to do with her Cushings or laminitis.

Congratulations on your 2 year anniversary!
My first post was asking for a German speaker to translate a bit of my new horse's passport!

Seeing this post has made me look at how long I have been on here................far too long

. But its been all good as I now have a fab new friend in Seahorse and I really don't know what I would do without her most of the time.
Anyway enough rambling my first post was about a lame horse I had bought

. Yes you did hear right I bought a lame horse. Horse came sound though with lots of good advice from here and I sold him 2 years later for a rather good profit which allowed me to buy my wonderful mare
