I like a 'project'....and seeing as my old las is a bit of a schoolmatser and the young 'un is coming on nicely.....I have turned my attention to OH's mare.

Previously she has done XC and team chasing and will drive....none of this with my OH but she was owned by a friend of mine for years previously so I know hew well.

She is a glorified field ornament living it up all hairy and covered in mud and loving it......until now he he he....

Monday...chase clipped and groomed to perfection....looking good if I may say so

Today....half day off work...went out hacking this aft in the woods and had a FAB time.....

Dragged out of the field, went for a walk n trot....popped a log and had a sedate canter seeing as it was a bit muddy....never put a foot wrong, she was a star.

Normally I like em lean and sharp.....arabs/TB's....the 'proper' horses

......but you know...she has totally changed my opinion on the heavy hairy native horse.....fun, forward going but not a hint of a spook...which made a change as I am used to the old 'throw-yourself-sideways-its- a- crisp- packet' manouvre

Pointless waffle.....but thought I would share.....

Hey, I have a hairy native type. Unfortunately she is nothing like your OH's mare! I wish, oh wish she was though. What breed is she?

She came over from Ireland as a 5 year old...no specific breeding known but Irish-draught/cob-type.....chunky but not too heavy and carries my OH's 14stone with no problems....

SU...ooh-er missus
