Having sorted out a routine that suits both me and my friend i have been riding her TB mare. Now prior to this I didn't like the lanky, gangly breed ;) Much prefered a chunky stamp of a cob which i am used to riding.

However i have found myself liking more and more the elegant long gangly tb legs, the faster gears she has and yes even the TB typical quirky moments she has. I wont be trading Tess in for an ex-racer just yet but i think in the future it may be a breed to be considered ;)

Have another schooling session coming up with my mum, and im excited and looking forwards to riding this 5yr old mare, who is an ex-racer but is a total sweetheart. Cheeky at times but very babyish and relies on the rider :D

Im going mad surely ;) who would want a gangly, bad footed Tb pffft:cool:

......:D

I have to say its not a breed that does it for me, but my best friend has an ex racer from Canada and I have to say I do enjoy having the odd spin on her now and again!

Im usually like this ! some Tb's really dont do it at all. But since this mare has muscled up coming out of a horrible winter im loving riding her ! Perhaps it's just her, or the change from riding Tess :D

saying that i had a spin on my other friends 4yr old cob the other day and got a shock he is 14hh but could spin on a 2 pence piece and goes like a rocket everywhere lol !

I have always loved TBs and own a lovely ex racer but i'm missing have a wide little cob to ride! In a few months i'll be looking for a second horse and a cob type will be my preferance!

I don't like those TB things either (eww) ;):p

But my boss has a ginger ex-racer who is now 15, she has to be ridden almost entirely off the seat as she dislikes a contact and always wants to go faster faster faster! But she is very sane no bucking or rearing etc. I really like her! First time I rode her last year in the school and got run away with, then I rode her a couple weeks ago on a hack and was super. So perhaps I make an exception for THAT TB :D
Considering a tb x in the future ... ;)

I should add that my own horses are sec D's, and my 14.3 is more complicated sometimes than the tb at work! Very chunky and comfy to sit on though.

The grass is always greener on the otherside i suppose !

Aw ! sounds like a difficult ride but i suppose that makes it even better when you get him going nicely :)

My dear, you have seen the light. You will never go back! LOL! Though with Tessy and a TB to ride you have the best of both worlds.

I'm very lucky ! It works for my friend who has a young baby and struggles to ride regulary and is slightly nervous. So seeing me ride her and jump her etc is giving her confidence whilst building up the mares muscles :)

Lets not forget about Dolly here! From the 5 weeks I've seen so far, Dolly>TB. :)

If I was light enough to ride a TB regularly though I'm sure I'd like them, I love how they look and move!

Huh you think dolly has TB in her

This mare floats, runs round like a giraffe and a complete pain to get into any form of outline but when her hind quarters are engaged and she is in the mood we click and it goes so well :D

Ooohh No haha! Dolly is better than a TB is what I meant - > "is greater than"! That's just me being lazy haha. :D Maths/Science geek in me breaking through.

Those clicking moments are so great aren't they? makes the thelwell giraffe impressions fade away :)

:D :D

Ex-racers are the dog's doodahs :D

Impressively, we've only ever owned TBs/ ex-racers since we started with horses (ponies were a real mish mash!) and they are the best.

We understand they're wild, of course ;) And need VERY careful riding. Of course ;)

I know that feeling! I have a TBx so not totally TB but she is more on the TB side than WB. I wasn't a fan before and thought they looked a bit spindly. But she's gorgeous and has a lovely nature. I am also quite partial to a good gallop and love the speed - fast but safe, it's a great mixture. Needs a bit more tlc than my bombproof chunky WBx but I'm never bored that's for sure.
