our pony club had organised a polocross type clinic today just 20 mins from us. we hadnt planned on going, as we prefered eventing. but as the arena had frozen we could not ride in the arena, so put my boy out as he is a little big for polocross (16.2hh

) so borowed friends 14.1hh and my other friend took the old pony on the yard.
it was really good fun! We learnt how to pick up the ball and learnt to throw, although it is a lot harder to catch! so we played and my pony started playing well, as she soon stopped bucking (which meant it was very difficult to catch the ball

) we started getting quicker! lol
I think i am hooked! was really good fun:D so im off to practice every wednesday nite!

For anyone that would like to try have a look at the UKPA website and phone up one of the contacts. They will be more than happy to arrange for you to have a go and will be able to put you in touch with a coach in your area - then the coach will arrange a taster session or similar!

Have Fun! Alison ( Retired Polocrosse Player and Coach!)

PS Only me Do you have your own stick and ball? If so you can practice passing and catching unmounted by thowing the ball at a brick wall- it will come back to you or slightly away from you depending on your target! Good Luck and keep us posted with your progress
