sorry to do this totally non horsey, my oh has been taken in to hospital. He cant breath, he has been strapped up to a machine since yesterday, he is only 33 it is scarey seeing someone you love shake and struggle to do anything because they dont have enough oxygen in there blood. I am very worried.if someone could give me a big shake and tell of to stop being silly, he will be fine i would welcome that as well.

Vibes and big shake given!

He is in the best place and they will be working hard to get his sats up to normal and find out why it has happened and make sure it doesn't happen again. One of my best friends spent some time in hospital a few years ago in a similar state.

Keep positive around him - it makes you feel better and it helps him to feel less panicky.

Very scary for both of you but he's in the best place and I'm sure the hospital will take really good care of him.
Let us know how he's doing x

thank you all so much, they need to get his peak flow up and oxygen up as well so we will see. stupid men he is worrying about the kids and me and how did the horses get in last night, who is putting them out today. It is like stop it just get better. Thank you again x

Mega vibes coming your way.

I was in exactly your situation on Christmas eve. OH (31) had been a bit under the weather and thought he had a cold - he's a man matyr and doesn't do "man flu". He promised to make a docs appointment the next morning. He went off to work ok and I then got a call at work later that day to say he was in the hospital - he had gone in as he couldn't breathe, had a very low peak flow, low oxygen saturation etc

I felt so guilty as only 2 days before I dragged him out on foot on a hack to accompany my big mare no wonder she kept stopping and waiting for him to catch up (he wasn't well then looking back but I thought he just had a cold and she was being a nappy cow!)

They never really did get to the bottom of my OH's problem but hit him with inhalers, steroids and anti-biotics. He did end up on hospital a week later and the ambulance out a few days after - both times as he couldn't breathe and needed a nebuliser. The last "attack" was actually put down to a panic attack brought on by the fear he couldn't breathe properly. Asthma was thought to be the cause and then later ruled out!?!?!

Ditto what jemima_too says about being positive around him. My OH was fine when he was with me, but IMO ended up being set off on the last "attack" by his mother who wound him up wittering about how cold the house was.

Oh lots and lots of vibes, hope he is ok.

If it makes you feel any better (and I realise it might well not be the same thing) but I had a similar situation. Just could not get the air into my lungs. Lungs felt ok, but my windpipe was massively restricting the air getting to them. It was scary. I called the doctor but can't have impressed on them how urgent it was cos they gave me an appointment the next day. That night I couldn't get up the stairs to bed, got half way up and couldn't get any further. I felt so ill I just stayed there and slept on the stairs (not to be recommended!). I was on my own and didn't expect to wake up but obviously I did . Doctor nearly had a heart attack when she saw me lol.

Anyhow, I recovered incredibly quickly with the right meds, so fingers massively crossed your OH will get better just as quickly

That sounds horrendous for you both so loads of vibes and hugs and a kick up the preverbial as well for good measure.
Do let us know how he gets on.
PS: horses can cope fine even if you just bung them hay and water or turn them out, their basic needs are met; you can always muck out another day if necessary; your OH and children are the priority just now.

You aren't being silly, there's not much worse than seeing the one you love very poorly.

I hope the docs get to the bottom of it and he picks up very soon.

Stay strong.
