i've seen things like that, i hate them personally. can't stand taxidermy in any form, wouldn't have it in the house. i knew of a top rider who had her top horse's hoof done like that after she lost him to colic.

One of my teachers at school had an elephants leg brolly stand. Made me feel sick every time I had to go into his office. Which was quite alot!!

Just looked on google and i can understand why it would make you feel sick!
Urgh yuck that's not nice (and I don't like the principal of it either...with the implied hunting link.....I know sorry but yeah....don't wanna spark debate, just my opinion!)
I have got a lock of hair from one of my fave ponies at an old yard that got PTS though...and a horse shoe from a really old calvalry horse that I was with when he had to be PTS when I worked at the horse sanctuary (he was 21 and apparently had been the head hrose at Diana's funeral parade or something of the like!) He was special!
The Brigade of Guards have the hoof of Marengo, Napoleon's arab charger, on a dinner table! He was captured by the British at Waterloo and put to stud (had a much more favourable ending than his owner) and when he died at the age of 38 his skeleton was put on display in the National Army Museum in Chelsea.
It's a bit rank isn't it- doesn't even look particularly stylish or practical.
Our local ancient farrier used to collect hooves/lower legs in different stages of interesting ailements. He used to do talks explaining them if you begged him, fascinating stuff, but I doubt he had any lovingly mounted and silver plated!
They are not quite the same, well if you went to buy him you would walk away. One relatively normal, one contracted tendon, boxy hoof, slightly rotated pedal bone and ringbone. But...... as long as he stays sound that's ok with me.
Kept some tail from my old boy that was over 20years ago and have still got it in a plastic envelope, look at it know and again and it brings back very happy memories.
