I have never seen anything like it!!!

I've still got mane & tail & shoes from my old boy that I said good bye to 7 years ago. Like you, it can still bring a tear to my eye, but that is normal & healthy! Really not sure about the foot thing

I saw a horse's hoof in an old saddlers once, the guy explained that keeping the hoof was a mark of respect to a good hunting horse. Don't think I would though, couldn't have him limping round horsey heaven!

No Shilasdair, they want something more unusual - donkey hooves, and I've got four donks!

I think this is rather gross and no way could I keep one of my own either. I do have tail hair from my last pony and feather clippings from my dogs too

I've kept a lock of hair from my old pony; but that's different; you aren't constantly being reminded that the horse has been chopped up. No- don't fancy an ornamental hoof. Anyway, doesn't it pong? Plus you could get a whole horse for that price...

Don't like ashes in urns, either. My colleagues' landlady used to keep her husband in a vase on the mantleshelf; it was a real conversation dampener, if you went to tea there. It was a good thing she never opened the urn to give him an airing, though, as various lodgers had added things to it, and he was sharing his last resting place with all sorts of inappropriate bits of detritus...

I once stayed at a B & B in an old country house in Argyll, where the centrepiece of the table was four separate legs of a deer with candles stuck in them.
I felt a strange compulsive need to space them realistically, and make sure the front legs and hind legs were all pointing the right way....I hadn't been going out with OH long and he seemed a bit concerned

Laughed & laughed at this; this is so grotesque. How did they stand up?

How could you eat your dinner with those on the table?

What were the people like? Were they...er....normal?.........

OK- I know- Normality is what you make it....

It would take more than a deer carcase centerpiece to put me off my breakfast!

It was one old lady and a strange gardener...it had obviously been a nice house at some point...next to some burial cairns...but was like a timewarp to 1890's...no duvets...quilts, strange paintings, mangy foxes
OK- I know- Normality is what you make it....

OH still has doubts about that....
I can still remember the name of the B & B if you want to see the legs?

Have PMd you whilst singing 'These hooves were meant for walking...and that's what they're gonna do...one of these days...'

My ex has one of those (not as fancy though!)

Friend also has a hoof off her own horse when she had it PTS for teaching reasons.
