I have put my deposit down on a gorgeous yearling colt, Was very unexpected a week ago i got a phone call from my friend are we still looking for a horse i said no but in a few months i want to get a baby baby!!!! as i have wanted one for years now but never had the chance to have one! my freind works for all animal rescue and has a lady who has fallen very very ill and having to get rid off all her animals, she asked me if i would be interested, and wanted to give me first refusal on one of the yearlings, there is 5!!

The others were chestnut but as the lady hasnt been very well they havent been handled, but my boy came trotting over was very inquisitive, after standing with him for about 15minutes giving him a nice scratch and after that i couldn't get rid of him he was following me everywhere!! and no i did not have any treats on me!!

Anyway put a deposit on him and picking him up in a month obviously because i finantially was not ready to buy one!!,

Anyway he isnt named soooooooo come on guys :)

i am kind of swaying towards Archie as his stable name and he will be registered soo i need a name for his posh show name heheheh, but i am open to suggestions, i cannot remember the name of sire and dam but not to bothered about it matching them, i am not very good with names, but he is very well bred so i am told :D

He is Oldenburg x tb

Bless him - he does look a bit poor at the moment though. Were they all like that? Hmm, name wise i have no idea, i think Archie's nice though. Looks like he could grow pretty big!

I know bless him, he is looking poor, :(, he will be coming to me we have lots of grass and stabled over night, I am not sure whether he is going to need a light weight rug just to keep the rain off his back! they were all looking pretty poor! have lived out with not a lot of grass! but are getting fed! he has been wormed, but he needs to be re-wormed and vaccinated going to make sure he gets a lot of tlc and spend lots of time with him will also get the vet to check him over when he gets here! am going up there again in a week every week until he comes!

regarding poor looking, have to say he looks like a typical yearling!!! They convert food into growth not particularly condition!! He looks a nice type, would be nice to try and match up the name to the parentage as he's got oldenburg in, otherwise.......

aimante archibald (french conversion of loving archibald)
rolling archie
robin hood (archer!!?)
william tell (archer)

He's lovely, I like his star:)
I like the name Arch Angel it sort of fits with his stable name:)

Good luck with him,you must be very excited and it sounds as though he has found a good home with you.

Yeah I did consider some of that look may be due to the growth - mine looked a bit rough at the end of winter (he is just 2 now) but in the pic shown here, although giving for growth etc I think they could still be a little bit better weight wise at this time of year. Still, i am not saying emaciated or anything, just a little poor and I am sure some decent grass will soon rectify that.

Lovely looking chap :)
What are your plans with him? will you have him gelded or keep him entire and try to have him graded?

Sadly at the yard we cannot have stallions so he is going to my friends field and shelter to be gelded before he can come to the livery yard, doing lots of handling with him and play about and then next year take him to little in hand shows so he can experience all the busy stuff, then obviously let him grow up and hopefully he will be lovely eventer, but thats years to come heheh he will go out and do lots of dressage and show jumping and xc before i contemplate it! got are other new youngster 4yo though so we have him to bring on and compete until little man is ready to break and then we will have two too play with :D

My dog came from All Animal Rescue!

He looks very sweet. You might find once you spend some more time with him, a suitable name will come up.

Hope you have lots of fun together :D

I have to say I love the name Archie, I used to ride a gorgeous chestnut called Monarch and his nickname was Archie :) So it has good connotations with me

I hope yout wo have many happy years together, he sounds very sweet

how is he bred- i have a mare who is Tb x oldenburg. Just wondering if breeding is similar.

I cannot remember i am trying to get hold of my freind who is going to contact the lady for me, and find out, she showed me the stallions passport and got to see the sire too,and has some very good lines in there apparently, i am no good with names at all!, will give you a pm when i find out :).
