my chickens have a coop with a run on and its on bark so i put them in a run on the lawn because on the amount of cats we have id wouldnt be safe for them to run loose. i have got one that is abit of a bully and they all just seemed miserable, i thought i would get them a big run so they had more room to have there own space. i was looking at £100 for a big collapsable run. not realy viable. so i got some electric tape and fence stakes and netting i had left over from covering my vegetable and made a run. yay! £35 it cost and i can make it as big and as small as i want. que some very happy chickens. but they are still craming themselves in one corner, silly billys!
pointless post but felt so happy about my genious invention

Chickens seem to like craming themselves in a corner, we have just got some young chickens and they all huddle in a corner at night and walk over each other.
Are they bantums?

That looks like hard work to move with all that tape. Not fox proof IMO as they are canny bu@@ers but lovely chickens. Here's to your first omelette

lol.. I have used electric fencing too but the chickens do still manage to hop through it so I bought an aviary and coop with collapsable run and managed to get a good deal via Ebay... its easily moveable and fox safe.... so far...

Can I ask what you have used for their dust bath???

Look like lovely happy chickens too.... well done...

they are pekin bantams and they lay very small eggs. had them about a year now. they dont stay in that over night they have a chicken coop at night with a run. it sort of an all in one coop. and they go on the lawn when the weather is nice. i use bird sand for the dust bath. you can get it in big bags. i bag it up myself at work as to how much i want. they love it. i put it in an old litter tray and they shimmy around in it.

Fox got my Pekins but they are such friendly little chooks. I had lavender (grey) ones.

Good thinking re the fence - that would have kept foxy out!
