A miracle has happened and a lady local to me has two large horses she needs hacked out. She advertised online, my friend who knows her tagged me into her ad and I rang her straight away.

So today I went to visit her and her two lovely horses (Shire x ID's) and she's agreed to let me hack them out weekend mornings, it's the area I used to trailer Bailey to Sunday mornings, the hacking is amazing!

They can only be lightly hacked out in walk which is ideal for me to get me back into riding and they are excellent on the roads so this will give me the confidence I need. They are lovely horses, the one in particular is a very cuddly sort, I was scratching his wither and he was wringing his neck and curling his lip enjoying the scratch and letting me blow in his nose!

Her usual rider is hurt with a broken leg (non related horsey accident) and as they are older horses shes keen to keep them ticking over. So I met her husband too and we have arranged to hack out for an hour each Saturday and Sunday morning starting next week.

I can't tell you how delighted I am to be able to go back riding again. It's been about 4.5 yrs since I last rode reguarly and about 7 months since I last sat on a horse (that I went to view).

And as we talked it turned out, as is the way in horsey circles, that we have loads of people we know in common including people who used to be on, and some that are still on the yard I've been stabled at with Bailey and Lari before he went to retirement!

So this fantastic opportunity has given me precious breathing space, I am so happy and excited to be around horses again. Maybe things are at last on the up. 😀

Perfect. It’s not the same as having your own but good shares are a very close second. I love mine and mostly they give me the horsey time I crave. Hope it works out well for you. Congratulations on finding something that sounds ideal.

Brilliant news! Teen daughter shared our YO's cob for 2 years which worked brilliantly until he sadly passed this summer, and then since my coblet got injured in the spring we've both been riding a friends 2 horses twice weekly, and are having a blast. 2 great horses, a fab relaxed owner who just wants us and them to have fun, we muck out the odd stable, stuff haynets and I leave a fiver every time we ride towards shoes. It works great all the fun without the 24/7 responsibility. Infact she's asked if we want to move coblet out to her house and extensive grazing to make life easier and so my daughter can do more each week with her ID and I'm seriously considering it?

Fantastic! Sounds like the perfect arrangement.
I met someone who is now a good friend through the same sort of circumstances, except it was she who had broken her leg and needed someone to exercise horses.
