I've been trying to ride as much as I can while I've got this two weeks off work over Xmas. I managed a longish walk today, but all we can do is plod or trot around the local villages as everywhere is flooded and muddy and horrible.
The plan was to hack him out as much as possible because he gets too excited and strong out on hacks cause he doesn't do enough of it (seriously, no one believes me when I say he's almost 16.... I'm planning to take him in a veterans ridden class at the next local show just to see if the judges believe me
Silly horsey of mine!)
So I want to do as much as possible while the arena down the track is waterlogged and the field is unsuitable for riding in as well. I've done as much as possible.... but riding in the rain is no fun, and riding around the village in strong winds borders on dangerous (I know a woman who lost her horse going out hacking on a windy day and crisp packet blew in the horses face, it took off and in a blind panic went straight into someone's brick wall)
I am getting schooling/lesson withdrawals though
