This is a totally self indulgent post but I'm desperate to tell someone that I jumped for the first time in my lesson today!

Only started riding the end of the year before last (at 20) and have had infrequent lessons since then due to being a poor student but my lesson was going so well today my instructor said we should start jumping! Did a few trotting poles to practice my position and then she put up a cross pole and we jumped it!

It was only about 1ft but I'm so pleased and proud of my little pony (not really mine but feels like it after riding him for nearly two years), he looked after me even though I caught him in the mouth a little bit the first time we went over. Can't wait for next weeks lesson, it was so much fun and nowhere near as scary as I thoght it would be

a foot, well done. i have been riding again for a year after a break of 10 years (although 20 years of riding before that) and I was pleased to jump 6 inches. My horse was disgusted!

it doesnt matter whether its 1 inch or the 7ft puissance to me!! Its a great acheivement for you! And its such much harder to hold and control your nerves when you start doing more as an adult.
Children have nothing to lose, and I do!! SO WELL DONE!!

It was amazing and really smooth, was expecting a huge bumpy landing but it wasn't like that at all, although I'm sure it gets harder with higher jumps!

aaahh good for you! i know what you mean about the 'poor' no money thing - ive been riding for 10 years but its more like 5 years because i couldn't have lessons all the time! lol. bet you cant wait for next week xx

when i propally jumped i was on top of the world that i got a stroppy mare i ride over!! mine is only a foot to but as my fellow hhoers said we all start there! x
