I just don't know what to do? RE: PTS

Have just got off the phone with my vet and I've got some answers that I needed.

I asked if there was anything else we could do and we discussed injections in his back. We can't get them done until next month at least because of the steroids that he already has in his system but its definitley worth a go however it is just prolonging the pain.

I asked if it was worth just turning him out for a year or so and see if there's improvement, this could work 50/50 and its whether we have the funds to do this.

I also asked of he is in pain just out in the field, the vet said that although it is difficult to tell he thinks he is because of the way he moves and carries himself. We're both also a bit concerned that he is rolling less as he used to roll for England.

It seems that we have two possibly three options that I need to weigh up. 1. Turn him away however this might not be financially possible also if he's in pain currently then it seems a bit cruel leaving him sitting in the field. 2. Get the injections in his back, it might not work but it might do wonders however I do believe they would be only prolonging option 3 which is pts and after my chat with the vet today I don't think would be that cruel.

I have a lot to think about, thank you everyone for your kind words and spotsrock thank you so much for your kind offer but between work and sorting out the boys I hardly have time to breathe :p

thought you probably would be juggling - there's me and PPP and a selection of tolerably sane horses, we're both nice (I think!!) so if you just get bored and fancy a hack or a mess about in the school just message me.

Good luck with Andy, he's such a HHO favourite, please keep us posted.
