For posting the thumbnail image of a portrait of my horse! I had permission, from the artist, to share that image...it's not of a printable quality, and I own the original painting thatbthis was taken from....so why was I edited!!!

(it was on the portrait thread)
 
That I was contravening copyright rules....

But how? The picture had the artists name watermarked on it, and I wrote that the artist had done the work.

When I first bought the painting, and some prints from it, and some of the photographs she took, I asked if she minded me public ally posting the image to show other people who where looking for recommendations, and she said she'd be happy for me to.
 
Well I got banned for starting the 30yr pony thread even though I didnt actually post the link and yet others later in the thread did and they didnt get banned.
 
Yet more admin madness! You can't contravene copyright rules if the copyright holder has allowed the usage!!

I got a warning because someone else named a company I had had a bad experience with on my thread! My account was perfectly anonymous but because someone else said later on 'I bet it was company X' the whole thread was removed and I got the warning!
 
As someone who's had many warningsTFC has told me in the past that the only way anything is brought to his attention is by someone pressing the button as he cant read the myriad of posts-
 
goodness me there are more pressing issues to deal with in this world than someone that just likes to push buttons... :(

(as a few weeks ago I was told off for having a wanted ad in my sig that was there for months).
 
I didn't see the thread in question but I too sympathise with admin a bit here. Unless poster wrote in the original post that she had permission from painter and so forth then admin weren't to know that copyright holder couldn't sue H&H. We might not like being told off when we haven't actually done anything wrong but I think we'd like HHO being shut down because they couldn't afford the legal fees for our (free!) fun more...

Deep breath, explanation to admin and carry on :-)

i too got a warning last week - but after some very civillised PM discussion with TFC it was reversed [ is that the right word?]
BUT - it did highlight some strange inconsistencies - as i was warned about advertising - i was actually asking people to reccomend livery yards - so not advertising at all - in fact the reverse - whilst i am aware of a current thread re bespoke bridles where people are clearly advertising their businesses -


does that mean i dont get a seat in the naughty girls corner - perhaps just a bit of standing room:)

I got a warning the other week for supposedly advertising on my thread about saddles

My saddle wasn't even for sale!! I was asking about the welfare of java and the saddle not about blooming selling it !!

I was so mad!!
Anyone can report anyone it probably isn't even checked they just Jump in an warn you before

I got warned a while back for asking what people thought of an idea for a new numnah - it didnt exist other than in my head and most definitely couldnt be purchased and I didnt mention any company names. I even did it as a poll so I wouldnt be able to see who liked the idea so as to avoid being accused of advertising. But apparently I was advertising :confused: Sometimes seems its one rule for one... (says me grumpily :D )
 
Must be an angel, not had one (yet!). Halo a bit rusty so sure it will fall before long.

I can understand why they were cautious, surely if you contact them & explain you had permission they will approve it? Worked for the lady showing a free Polocrosse day recently so they do listen.

Did anyone else so that series of threads by a new poster a couple of weeks ago. Open up the post & it was just a series of links for stuff.

I'd be inclined to re-post the thread, with a note explaining that you have permission to use the picture and also own it.
I got a stern warning about "advertising" because I put an equine charity's annual event in my sig. However, a prominent poster has a permenant signature highlighting the same charity's need for funds. Not sure what the difference was there.
