I just want a palomino!!

Haffy's aren't palomino due to no cream gene, they are flaxen chestnut with pangare. Dodgy dealers are quite happy to pass a similar looking colour off as 'pally' for the extra ££££. Think for a moment... if cream was in the breed you would have a fair few Cremello Haflingers.

^^^ This, agree totally!

Went to see two Haffy's (who are palomino's!!) at what I later found out was a very dodgy dealers yard; unbeknown to me these two had been trawled around the markets all over the place. One apparently had a mega power-buck; the other (mare) was OK'ish until I tried to dismount, then went into a frenzy!

Haflingers are not palomino, they are genetically chestnut. Perhaps a good thing you didn't get one thinking you'd bought a pally!

As the owner of a palli - with the double whammy of socks - I agree. It is as bad as having a grey :D

The secret is to get a palli with the sooty gene...

I went shopping with the 'must haves' of no white hocks, knees or tail - my ideal being a buckskin. Of course I fell for a palli, but because he is sooty, his hocks and knees are a bit darker, and his tail has darker hair too. Such a relief after two with way too much white... My purple shampoo is officially unemployed!

I know of someone selling a 2yo gelding unregistered warmblood around 2k if interested? To make 15.2/3 - handled but obviously unbroken so a blank canvas.

The two people who bought our palo before us (when she was 5) bought her because they really wanted a palo, both were disastorous :D, the second had her 8 weeks. We wanted an older, dark coloured gelding. She tries to be darker, she loves mud.

Arguably she wasn't ideal for us either but Mum's a soft touch so 15 years later she is still here, she looks pretty in the field at least

I'm going to have to ask what lens you used pleeease 😂

Lovely pic Ester.
I would guess that the lens would be at least 200mm and taken with a wide aperture (maybe 4.5). That would help the subject to ‘pop’ out of a blurred background. The lovely light really helps and the perfect focus on her eye.

I second the Cynheidrefawr stud - the ponies are renowned for their temperament. My mare is fab (although not a Pali) and my youngster is by Cynheidrefawr Creme de last Creme and he is such a chilled soul.
